Title: 2009 Recruits
Post by: nyg on January 25, 2008, 03:53:00 PM
2009 SG Lance Stephenson recently committed to UNC and now UNC is no longer interested in recruiting Tyshawn Taylor's St. Anthony's backcourt mate, Dominic Cheek.  UNC has had an insane 2009 recruiting class.  According to both Rivals, Gibbons and Scout, Cheek is a top ten recruit at the SG position and now has mentioned Marquette as a school of interest. Maybe Tyshawn can have a nice talk with his classmate. With MU also in the mix for SG's Maurice Creek, Nolan Dennis, Diamond Taylor and Naji Hibbert, lets hope one of them will decide to make a commitment.
With the commitment of Eric Williams, one of the above SGs, and the ultimate goal of Jamil Wilson, it could be the best recruiting class of TC's reign. This would also be exceptional timing with the graduation of James, McNeal and Matthews.  Then to 2010 and 6 ft 11" Evan Anderson.

Just a vibe I get from the Western part of the state and nothing more, but I think Anderson is heading to play for the Rodents.

thats fine with me... to be honest i dont really think he fits with our system. I think TC would like someone a bit more athletic he seems to fit the Brian Butch profile of big, white, and slow.

Stephenson did not commit to UNC.  Dexter Strickland, a 2009 guard from NJ, did commit to the Heels a few weeks back.  Stephenson has UNC in his final half dozen schools though

My error, thanks. Both of those guards are elite recruits and how is UNC going to distribute playing time to all these players.

none of this matters a much as Trevor B's rehab. MU has what it needs in the backcourt (except maybe a drop-dead 3 artist).

They need a big guy. Now, how hard is that figure out?
