He's got 6 points and 5 assists at halftime.

Too bad Jeff Van Gundy didn't have the class of the Pacer coach when he let Novak rot on the Rockets bench despite a huge lead.

According to ESPN box score Trav played 40 min, 15 pts (4-12 shooting), and led the team with 9 ast. Pretty good, glad to see him getting min. and contributing.

Wow, good for Travis!  I have courtside tickets for the Feb 20th game in Indy vs the Cavs.  As a Cavs fan I will be cheering for Cleveland but I hope Travis performs well and gets lots of playing time.  I'm so excited for this game now.

Did he get the start based on merit or because it was his hometown game? Just curious.

He's been playing more in the last week or so, so I think it was probably based on the matchup/merit.

Against the Bulls the other night he got some good run.  The Bulls posted him up every single time down the court when he was in the game.  Most of that time he was guarding Adrian Griffin, who is a lot bigger than him.  The Pacers were quick to double when that happened and get the ball out of Griffin's hands.

The whole outcry over Van Gundy not playing Novak is ridiculous.  Novak was a rookie.  He barely ever played.  There's no hometown minutes in the NBA.  It's not Little League.

From this morning's J/S :

"O'Brien said there was nothing sentimental in granting Diener his first NBA start at home, that Jamaal Tinsley was hurt and that was that. "

I realize that.  But the game in question .. Houston had the game well in hand in the 4th, up 15+.  The last 1-2 minutes, all the Bucks were doing was fouling.  Sounds like a perfect time to get a 90%+ free throw shooter in the game, eh?

D-bag move not to give him a few seconds in a blow out game on his home court.

O'brien loves diener type players.  Solid fundamentals and can shoot the 3.  Hates the money players
