Title: Wojo and Powell confrontation
Post by: Johnny B on March 16, 2019, 01:37:39 AM
Saw on espn highlights a bizzare moment after the game. Seemed wojo refused to shake Powells hand? And then Powell said something and stuck his hand out in a non serious way as wojo was walking away. Wojo must have heard something because he turned around to say something back. Both Powell and wojo were essentially blocked from getting close to each other and Powell took off. Just ridiculous. I hate seton hall

powell was basking in the glory of his win and of course was thinking he was being mr gracious being the man calling it peace to our coach who just had his heart torn out.  wojo's mind wasn't even on powell, he never saw him.  so powell thinks he's getting dissed, wojo hears the smack talk and calls him out on it-powell thinks he's being the "above the fray" guy and wojo is the bad guy

just like the game-it's always the 2 punch that get's noticed

all of the chirping and NON calls lead to this-the refs instigated this whole thing, didn't take charge of the game right out of the block, then had a mess to clean up, all at the expense of the players and the fans

Watched the video of this. Wojo saw him.  He wasn't about to shake his hand. And Powell goes on to act like punk he is after.

No problem with what Wojo did. Don't fake everything is fine for appearances. His team had just been jobbed like I haven't seen in a while.

Wojo didn't look directly at him, but no way he didn't see him

I don't know if it was a deliberate move by Wojo, but I'd be fine if it was. Powell threw an intentional elbow at Sacar, got off easy with a Flagrant 1, and later started a fight that led to Sacar's ejection. He is a punk, and doesn't deserve Wojo's respect.

What is it with SHU and the thugs they recruit? Herb Pope with the nut punch, now Powell with a clearly premeditated elbow. I'm fine with physical play, but that is bush league....

Don't forget Nutter's undercut of D James on a breakaway.

If Wojo saw him he would have shook his hand. Sorry but you guys are too emotional and read way too much into stuff.

After the game last night vs Nova, Powell went through the line and kept his head down and didn't speak to anyone who was congratulating.  Even Jay Wright kind of stopped and said words to Powell and Powell just kept moving by him.  You know Wright was saying nice things to Powell but it didn't matter.  Truly a classless move on his part

Wojo was in a bit of a daze and did not see Powell.  End of story.

Yeah if anything this shows Powell needs to be the center of attention. And he'll seek to get it by any means possible. By elbowing, pretending to get snubbed to make a scene, by not acknowledging anyone else during end of game pleasantries.

Can we stop pretending like any of us actually know whether Wojo saw him? I can make a case for why he snubbed him if he saw him just as easily as he didn't see him. Regardless Powell is a pos and those refs are an embarrassment for not tossing him after the elbow.

They showed Powell and a teammate embracing forehead to forehead and then scrambling to the end of the handshake line. Looked like Wojo had already been through the line and had turned back by the time Powell got there. Awkward timing just like the Leitao incident. Wojo got stuck with chirping this time instead of getting grabbed around the neck.

Powell never went through the line and was never going to.

Wojo intentionally/unintentionally not shaking hands with the kid is a "confrontation?"

+1.  Another faux injustice brought to us by social media.

The "confrontation" was Powell going after him due to a perceived slight

It was obvious from Wojo snub of Powell that he is a racist, hates women, hates illegal immigrants and wants lower taxes from the rich. Beside that, I wouldn't look to much into it.

When the game ends, Wojo historically immediately goes and shakes opposing coaches and then opposing teams' hands.
Powell was hugging and celebrating by the time Wojo was through the line. Should Wojo go back and shake the guys hand who decided not to get in line with everyone else? Does Wojo have an obligation to seek out Powell since he was not in the initial handshake line? No.
Powell made it a scene.....all because he wasn't in line when the handshake line started.

I actually thought the terse exchange between Wojo and the SH assistant was the most interesting part. Here's a link for those who haven't see it

Plus Tax.  Few people know what Wojo was thinking, so I think some of us Posters go with the "Yada  Yada"  that is the accepted norm.

The kid is a baller, and I respect that. But he clearly has some internal demons.
