They will be playing Saturday night. Just feel like if they can get that first win, it will springboard them to the title game.
Id say there is almost no way we can handle st johns unless the 3pt percentage is fantastic
Should we expect them to win the BET?
What is the minimum we should expect? I think the finals.
If SJU, hope that Heron's knee tendinitis flares up.
Just don't like the Simon - Howard matchup. Markus has gone 7 for 32 (21%) in the two games played, and that was before his current like slump.
Go Blue Demons, close game and SJU racking up the fouls.
We got this.

I'm shocked you feel this way
Agree, Guru. I think if they can get off the schneid, as Al would have said, that it will clear their heads.

Well, we shot like shyte from 3 the second time we played them and we lost by 1.
I want st John's to win. I can handle losing to them. If DePaul somehow beats Marquette, scoop will never be prepared for the drunken onslaught I will befall on them

Yes. They are much quicker and far more athletic.
Johnnies looking very strong vs DePaul. Inside and outside hpgame going well.
Let's hope they're tired tomorrow, because they look really good tonight. Have a feeling the streak continues.
MU gets it together after winning a close one vs a tired johnnies team. We are deeper than any other big east team and have been better most of the year except this last blip.
We win the tourney and get our mojo back...bank it.

They won't be tired. They dominated DePaul and will be amped for us.

Deeper than any big east team!??????? We dont even have a single decent true point guard?????? Id say depth at this point is not one of our attributes

I'm not the only one who thinks we have a deep team compared to the rest of the big east...but...whatever...If you think our roster is not (arguably) better top to bottom than the rest of the league...ok. My opinion is that it is and why we were in a position to win the league outright with 4 games to go...
Bring on the Red Storm. I've been wanting another shot at them all season. They have a short bench, thinking they might get some jelly legs tomorrow.
We aren't deep........Heldt doesn't play.... Chartouny has p.ayed his way out......basically playing 7 guys now......with a little help from Cain in certain games
Sacar is now our backup point guard........

St. John's got a whopping 4 points and 2 rebounds from its bench tonight. I'll bet my left nut we get more from Ed, Joseph and Jamal tomorrow.

Johnnies' opponent Wednesday should have to change their name to ePaul.
Has this board ever melted down BEFORE a game? Because this thread is pretty close to doing that.

No doubt the Johnnies D has given Markus fits. If Simon is truly the stopper, then we need to scheme to force switches and exploit that situation. I understand they have other similar players, but he is supposedly the defensive stalwart. The double teams with length seem to be where we really run into problems because Markus tends to dribble into the traps rather than passing before it closes on him. Once trapped, his lack of height is a huge disadvantage.
IIRC, St. John's didn't do much trapping, it was more that they can switch multiple athletic guards with long wingspans onto Howard with little drop off. They swallowed him up when he tried to drive, I think he went 1/9 or 1/10 inside the arc last game. But he did go 4/8 from range.
There should be opportunities for the Hausers, Ed, Theo, and Sacar to get some buckets in the paint due to SJU's lack of size. If Ponds isn't guarding Howard than whoever he is defending will have between 4-8 inches on him. Find that matchup and take advantage. Keep Howard on the perimeter for catch and shoots.
The trouble I foresee is on the defensive end. Howard is solid defensively but he can't handle Ponds. This means that he has to guard Justin Simon who we know will just post Markus up and got an easy turnaround jumper. In addition, I'm not sure who Theo can defend out there. He could reasonably guard a catch and shooter like Clark but then who does Joey guard? Makes me wonder if we see more Bailey/Cain instead of Theo/Ed/Joey.
Battle of wills. Do we make them pay for going small by working the paint and drawing fouls? Or do we have to sit Theo/Ed and go with a smaller lineup that can keep up with them defensively? Whoever wins that battle has a big advantage.
I think we win tonight and make it to Saturday to play Creighton in the final. No idea how that one will go, but the Jays have been the best team in the league of late and it's not even really that close.

Yeah the big issue defensively besides Markus is that Against SJ ......Theo and Ed are drawn away from the hoop by Clark......which eliminates them as a help defender.......as we all know that has been huge for us this season.

Tough matchup that the two best teams of the past month opened against each other.
