More confirmation that this was a hell of a regular season

Good that there is some outside validation of what most of us could see on the court...slow but steady improvement year upon year. If Markus sticks around another year - and I'm guessing he will - we are set up for another significant improvement next season....

I am feeling this team is better than the 2017 team--not even. Certainly defensively.

You do realize that down is good in this instance right?

Maybe a hell of a season for MU still not even close to where they need to be.

Where do they need to be?  What will make people happy? #1 for 10 years, 2 national titles, 23 NBA players, a 159 game winning streak?  The 70's are over.  I'm curious what we are supposed to be.

I think we can and will get better, but I have zero doubts that will also never be good enough either.

I went back and crunched the numbers further, back to 2000.  The data is sparse as Ken Pomeroy stops at 2002, but RPI and Sagarin are available in 2000.  BPI starts in 2008.

This year's team using the computer rankings:

is better than half of Buzz's teams
is better than six of Crean's teams
If 2019 ratings hold, it will mark the 3rd best of the last ten years trailing 2012 and 2013

Crean had 3 of the top 4 seasons the last 20 years (2003, 2002, and 2008).
Buzz's 2012 team was ranked 2nd overall in last 20 years
Crean also had 4 of the 6 worst season in the last 20 years - wildly inconsistent

Interesting that we finished 30 in KP in 2017 and we finished only 1 point better this year. Slightly disappointing. But, I do think this team is much better.

I just want to know what assistants are on Pakuni and Lenny's short list, since we are forever saddled with hiring assistants cuz it's what we have almost always done in the past when successful.

Which assistants have we identified that are waiting in the wings when the time comes?
