Title: Giveaways at home games...
Post by: Boognish_MU on January 23, 2008, 08:19:34 PM
Ok... not that watching the team isn't enough...

http://gomarquette.cstv.com/tickets/m-baskbl-main.html

These promo items suck!  I would rather have "Marquette Plastic Cup Night" than the Final Four Replica Ring.
Look how stupid these things are:

And then they have Free Dwayne Wade Marquette Jersey night.... but for 8th grade or younger...

LAME.  I would much rather not get these stupid trading cards and have the wade jersey.

A Message to all 7th graders who don't want their jersey:
I will trade you 2 David Cubilians and 1 Dominic James cards for the jersey.... and I will even through in my Dwight Burke if I have to  :P

Poor TC, he wants to do everything in his power to remind the masses of his Final Four appearance, but at the same time he ends up reminding them it's been 5 years since he won a tournament game...

Darned if you do...darned if you don't...

The best part about those rings is the base. Those grooves make it look like real wood.

I dunno .. the ring is mildly interesting.  It does seem "late" though .. would have been great in 2003-4.

It's better than some from the past .. pom-pons .. yellow noodle things, "3" cards, that crappy radio they gave away that broke instantly ..

To Boognish's original point, I would actually like a Marquette plastic cup night. I still have my plastic cup from when they honored the 1970 NIT champs!

If you don't think he's involved in it, you're insane.

And for the record...other than that ring...they've been spectacular the last 5 years or so.

They are spectacular and crean's responsible.  Wow, that might be the best compliment you've ever given him.

ZiggysFryBaby (age 13 months) is willing to negoitate a price for the jersey.   8-)

I wonder if this jersey will fit ZiggysFryBoy better than the medium powder blue shirt that I got last year?   >:(   :D

How about this deal for the jersey: I promise to think about letting ZiggysFryBaby go on one (1) date with SpiralBaby in the somewhat distant future and to give five (5) minutes to ZiggysFryBaby to allow him to try and argue convincingly in favor of the date if he so chooses.  I'll even be nice and recommend some factors that would make the argument more favorable for him: 1.) how far in the future this date is to happen (the farther the better), 2.) whether ZiggysFryBaby a graduate of Marquette University and can successfully pass a TBD quiz about MU basketball containing no fewer than twenty (20) and no more than thirty million (30,000,000) questions.

There.. I think that is fair.. deal?

I dunno- I kind of like the ring. I think it will look good on my shelf at work next my other MU memorabilia.

I think it is unique and clever.

And when was the last time we went to a Final Four before 2003 and TC?  Over 25 years?  Yeah, I guess if TC was a good coach us fans would already have forgotten about 2003 and who Dwyane Wade is within 5 years.

I'm inclined to agree... I mean, it's a little weird looking... but definitely different from any other promotion I've seen.

How many bobbleheads do I really need?

That why we should have Marquette Plastic Cup night.  I would much rather have a nice new water cup for my bathroom or desk @ work that is celebrating the final four... not some make shift paper weight or pen holder

I'm going to take shots out of mine... a lot of shots.

Maybe we'll play "Final 4 Replica Ring Century Club".

The possibilities are endless.

Use your imaginations, boys.

The Marquette basketball stocking cap they gave away a few years back maybe the best giveaway they've ever had.

Without a doubt, I have/had about ten of those. A staple of my winter season. I could go for a baby blue one next year.

they had them @ the ND game too... i grabbed one last night :)  can't ever have enough plastic cups!

but really, many of the good promos go to the ... *gasp* less well attended sporting events!! go figure!!

though it is still satisfying to collect @ the BC.... someday i will get a paratrooper shirt!!! or a rubberducky basketball!

here's my brilliant idea:  MU Bball blanket giveaway-- perfect for sitting in that cold lower bowl or for crazy students camping outside waiting for the BC to open!

I like the ring.  I mean would you rather have a Mike Kinsella mini-bobblehead?  (Don't answer that because now that I think about that it would be pretty sweet.  Also raises the question can you have a mini Mike Kinsella?)

If anything I'd complain about only kids getting the sweet D-Wade jerseys!  My goal is to bribe fat kids (I figure bigger jersey size) with candy.

The Mike Kinsella bobblehead would break easier than the D.Wade's we received last year.
