Not sure how true that is.
Congrats to coach Wojo! Building the program from the ground up.
So in otger words the Top 15 ranked teams, plus Wofford?
If Michigan State had an ethical compass, then Tom Izzo would be lucky to have a job. Luckily for Izzo, they do not.

Plus Buffalo and Louisville.
But your point is right. Generally, the Coach of the Year award nominees are usually just the coaches of the top rated teams in the country. The assumption being that the team wouldn't be rated that high unless the coach was good.
More interesting to me is the top teams whose coaches aren't nominees, specifically Coach Cal and Will Wade.

This is what I should have said.
I don't think he should be considered for coach of the year the way he handled things with the sexual assault alligations.
Where's Buzz? Beat Duke last night!

I think Buzz is left out due to not meeting high expectations. VT was a preaseason top 15 team IIRC, maybe even top 10. "Only" being ranked #20 at this point might give the perception of underachieving.

Watched some of that game and something important seemed to be missing. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Duke tied it up two times late in that game and both time Buzz called a TO and both times designed 3s out of those timeouts. Hell of a coach that guy

Which is kind of weak. Having coached many teams, the years you have the best talent its easy. Roll the balls out and your talent takes over. In the years where we had lesser talent i can tell you i coached harder than ever, and maybe had my best coaching acheivements as far as maybe wins over expected. Years when u walk into tryouts look around as say " we are gonna be really fin good" dont stand out as years that a coach deserves COY.
But what do i know.
Clearly wojo will and actually ahould win BE COY, but i can appreciate the heck out of the job a guy like Patrick Ewing or Willard has done at Seton Hall, even Leitao.

Neither Izzo nor D'Antonio had anything to do with Nassar. The president and AD are both gone and the president is up on charges. Those who helped cover up are being punished. Those who had nothing to do with it are not.

Multiple players of his and an assistant coach were accused of sexual assault and/or violence towards women.
Did Izzo do anything to obstruct the investigation?

Honest answer, we don't know. The question for me is, if Izzo was aware of the behavior, which its hard to imagine he wasn't, should he have benched those involved? Some say yes. Some say no.

And? Did he hide evidence? Did he attempt to suppress people talking about it? Did the allegations even go anywhere?

Well he kept an assistant/DOB who happened to be a former player of his on his staff when there was well known video of him beating a woman at a bar for not going him with him.
2 of his freshman basketball players were questioned by police regarding a sexual assault. One agreed to talk, the other did not. Neither served a single day of a suspension or anything in their 4 years.
These coaches know everything that goes on in their program. There is a 0.00% chance Izzo didn't know his players were involved. And "ignorance" should not be an excuse, and according to the NCAA no longer is an excuse.

If nothing came of the accusations in the 2nd paragraph, I don't see the issue.
If the first paragraph is accurate, that's problematic.

Maybe Wade can drop a bag of cash to the committee.
