Anyone else notice this during the 1H? 3 Nova bench players stood up and clapped every time he made a basket. (//)
If I had to take a crack at it, my guess is that Nova really focused in on MUs other players and conceded that Howard would probably get his anyway. I saw multiple times when Howard scored Jay Wright would kind of give an "it's ok" gesture so I'm guessing those walk ons we're doing the same. Wright, on the other hand, pulled a player in the first minute of the game for giving up a layup to Sacar(?).
Gillespie clapped for Markus after he hit a step back 2 on him in the second half.
Thought those 3 kids were clapping after every possession, not just ever made Markus shot. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Wright is all about the "next play." Thought this was just teammates trying to keep that focus.
I think it was more of am "OK, let's do our thing on offense" clap of encouragement than cheering for Markus. About the only time you expect cheering for opponents is when someone makes a crazy play, like one of Markus' insane step-backs.
Ok just rewatched most the first half. Every single MU shot that went up, even layups, same 3 guys stood up mid-shot and then clapped whether a make or miss. Really odd.
When you get a 38 spot put on you.....
You get a little "slap happy" I can imagine.....
Maybe Markus can save the 52 spot until we play at their place.....
