Title: Is it time to retire my signature?
Post by: warriorchick on January 30, 2019, 08:08:08 PM
I don't know how many of you remember a thread that was started back in November of 2015 titled "Wojo's Leash".  We had just lost to IUPUI and the board lost its collective mind.  Somewhere about the 6th page of the thread, I posted this:

Have some patience, FFS.

Then Tower posted:
Make this your signature.

And I did.

Has it been long enough?

Dodds declared the rebuild is over so yes it’s been long enough.

That was a great thread though .

Can’t believe no one has said it yet.  You don’t change anything unless and until we lose. FFS!

Don’t retire your signature; it pertains to life in general. I like it.

Fiserv Forum Streaking. We have a weird voyeuristic thing going on here at scoop. National Marquette Day is about to get weird.

You know, in retrospect I'm pretty happy with most of that post.

"With the amount of $$ MU spends on ball, we need to be in the NCAA every year." - still agree

"3) I actually really really do want Wojo to work out.  He's the "type" of coach we want" and it looks like he will - but he has gotten markedly better as a coach. If we still had 2015-vintage Wojo we'd probably be 14-8 right now and on the bubble.

And I don't think it needed to take this long and I think that had this season gone differently the writing could have bee on the wall. But as I've said elsewhere, I'm thrilled I was wrong.

Will I ever criticize Wojo again? I'm sure - this is an anonymous fan message board - the only reason any of us come here is to arm chair coach. But for the first time in 5 years we are exceeding expectations - and that is great.

No

Like any true classic it will never go out of style.  At least not on an internet message board.

That would pretty understated for the underboard.

Make this your signature

While that would indeed be appropriate, I post a lot, and I wouldn't want to selfishly bogart everyone else's data by putting a gif as my signature.

Also, there are many scoopers who are even more deserving of it.

And even more who should have this one:

I don't think your sig will ever be irrelevant -- no matter how much success Marquette has. Even after exceeding virtually every expectation this season, some are still impatient for another Final Four or national championship. Patience has definitely been called for on an individual level, as well (Brendan and Jamal's shooting, JC's turnovers, Ed's post offense, et cetera).

But if you feel like changing things up, go for it.

I, for one, never aimed for any kind of broader meaning or relevance with my sig. "Let's get a green drink!" simply reminds me of some very fun times (and rather questionable decisions) from my Marquette days. When I was young and thought I knew everything.
