From 35!
edit: merged thread makes my response a tad late :)
Yep, KenPom loves himself some blowouts, especially in games his system projects teams to lose. That's how you move the needle.
Only a dope would have projected us to lose this game. Butler might be worst team in the BE and we might be the best. The "Hinkle mystique" tends to work best when it's closer to the other way around.
I hearby reject Kenpom, who probably still has Wisconsin as the nation's best team.
Up to #7 in wins above bubble...
Only a dope has butler winning..
Before the game, not a lot of takers!

Yeah ... my language was too strong. Apologies to all.
We're just so much better. Every one of our players is better than his corresponding number on Butler. In many cases, it's not close.

Interesting where do you find that stat?

You could have made easy money if you really were confident in that statement before the game was played...

Can't argue with that. Already acknowledged that I should have engaged my brain better before making that post.
for you numbers gurus, how is penn state moving up in the NET rankings? They lose at home to Rutgers, and move up four spots?

From what was obseved of our Butler game--they are worse than DePaul. They are not a very good team.

My son is in Las Vegas. He told me before he went that he'd place a bet on MU. I sent him a text to remind him yesterday afternoon to take the points (and that MU would win outright). I told him I'd be watching the game on delay, so don't text me. After I'd watched (about 10:00 EST) I texted him to ask him if he'd made the bet. He told me that he got "sucked in" on a blackjack table and didn't make it to the sports book.
Does anybody want to buy a son? Notwithstanding the above, he's a relatively good kid.

How did he do at blackjack?

Would need to do a dive on their numbers, but likely because a lot of their opponents did well the same night.

Well, he said he was able to play for several hours, but ultimately he lost. But he's extremely tight, so I'm guessing it wasn't much money (his entire gambling budget for the two day trip to Vegas -- his first time -- was $100).
So, it sounds like he had several hours of fun for -- I'm guessing here -- less than $50 bucks. He seemed content with the situation, so I guess he did OK.

$100 for a few days in Vegas? lol. Good luck, kid.
I still can't believe I got MU at 200/1 odds back in November at WestGate. I think they're currently at 100/1 which is still pretty amazing. Wish like hell I put more than $50 on it. $200 to win $40k would be pretty neat.

Yeah, he's
really tight with money. He really doesn't enjoy gambling because of that -- takes after his father. When I was young and had more disposable income -- and, importantly, when there were 50 cent and $1 craps tables in Vegas -- I enjoyed gambling in and had enough money to play effectively. Now that I have lots of other financial obligations -- and the "cheap" craps tables are $10 minimum -- I just don't enjoy it.

It's good for any gambler to know what he/she is willing to lose.
