If you have been here long enough, you have seen this place absolutely meltdown after a bad loss.
So why isn't this place "melting up" after an extraordinary miracle to tie to the game and a historic performance by Markus?
Does scoop have a problem handling success?
Most posters don't.
Some posters do.
This is why Scoop is bad.
Because the melt downs are negative, reactionary fans who dislike wojo. or trolls.
Either way, the rest of the scoopers/online fanbase appears to be more level-headed and doesn't need to get too high or too low.
In a 3-day span, we get a solid conference win, land a 4-star recruit and get an incredible, come-from-behind, we-have-a-ton-of-heart road win against a team that is practically kicking in 3s ... but we won't even hear from some of the absolutely joyless mopes around here.
And everybody knows they were laying in wait for the loss tonight, ready to rip Wojo and say how horseshyte we were.
What a sad, pathetic way to go through life.
But yeah, that somehow proves that they're better fans than the rest of us. Joyless mopes.
I get mad at myself sometimes for even wasting my time writing this kind of thing, but it's effen pathetic.
Not to mention dumb and dangerous.

Great post by my wise and good friend 82!
I love complaining about complainers.
I also might love Sam Hauser.
And Joey.
And hot dogs. With chili.
I dislike cauliflower and the song Love Shack. Steak Shack is average.
I find trolls annoying. Especially the troll dolls with the long hair.
I am undecided with how I feel about melting up, as I have never experienced the sensation. I had a wonderful burrito the other day and it was heavenly. Was that me melting up?
Heisy we can handle success and are looking forward to more of it. Fantastic win, clearly the finish was one for the ages.
All I know is everything that happened tonight was expected by muguru.
If we had Tyler Herro, we would have won this game at halftime. ;)

The administration was going to deemphasize basketball turning us into SLU.

It was a Goose led scare about new academic restrictions supposedly retroactively applied to some of our Juco and condiment named friends during the latter parts of the Buzz era.
Eventually the new requirements came out and no one was impacted.
Fire Wojo!
Just finished watching game as had a late meeting.
Probably the most incredible Marquette game I've ever seen. One for the ages. Granted Creighton is 33 in KenPom so not quite like beating a Top 10 team, but good Lord what a f'in game!
Markus en fuego. Marquette has never had a player like him. Incredible performance and individual skill on display.
Sam's shot to send to OT was insane too. The confluence of events that led to MU winning is something we will likely never see again in this lifetime.
Kudos to Wojo for calling the timeout with .8 - I honestly thought at the moment he did it, it was silly. But. The miracle happened!
I haven't had a change to 'melt up' because I left the bar with .8 left on the clock, Creighton's ball, MU down 3. Got to the car just in time to hear Sammy's 3 to force OT and the 5 minute review.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Homer call the OT. Outscored CU 21-19 in OT!!!! That's unbelievable. Has anyone ever scored 19 in OT and lost????? 20 pts in a 5 min period is on pace for a 160 points/40 mins.
I have been scrambling like mad to find the OT on TV. Normally I would just watch on FSGO, but with it being on CBSSN, it is tougher than you would think.

The two closest comparisons I can think of are the win over UNC-Charlotte on the Whitehead shot, and, probably even moreso, the incredible rally vs. Davidson in the 2013 NCAAs. The fact that those games were far more important maybe gives those situations the "wins" in head-to-head competition.
But if we dismiss the importance-of-game factor, I think you are probably right. I mean, Creighton had a 3-point lead and the ball with .8 to go. If I'm a Creighton fan right now, all I can think is, "Man, we just had a choke for the ages."

Speaking of SLU, Hasahn French is a friggin beast!! Really transformed his game from just a PF to a really nice driver and shooter of the ball. Tremendous development and that size n cersatility has to make him a solid NBA prospect. Big time player.
Weve done well with the Hausers, but i was always kind of surprised French chose SLU over MU

Forgot all about Hasan French. Now I'm missing him, too.

Perfect. Indeed what a sad way to go through life.
My first yr as a Marquette fan changed my life forever. I got to witness one of the best games I've ever seen in person in Minneapolis in 2003.
Somewhere late in Buzzes tenure (likely when my guy vander made the driving layup to win conf) I remember thinking- man we have gotten pretty spoiled with all these tourney teams and runs, we shouldn't take this for granted
Then things went dry. Last year though I remember thinking 'this might be the best shooting Marquette team I'll ever see' and some point in the last month I realized this might be the best Marquette scorer/player I'll ever see.
These performances have been so amazing that this season has already left a mark on my life, no matter what happens tomorrow. Yet somehow along this entire journey there have been people complaining so much the entire way that they forgot to enjoy it
I'm an '85 grad and a season ticket holder since moving back to Milwaukee in '92. I've watched a lot of good & bad MU basketball and this was one of the best...but I'm ready for more and think this program is on the verge of delivering more.

Yes. Agree exactly as described.
Down 5 with 8.9 secs
Down 3 without the ball under 1 second.
Win % on the former has to be .1%
win % on the latter has to be .001%.

We got this.
First off, that was an outstanding college basketball game and enjoyed it thoroughly. You cannot expect much more excitement than that. I am off to an all day meeting today, otherwise I would be posting and enjoying the moment.
Secondly, I hope it is the start of big things that many believe are ahead for the program. Looking forward to being at Fiserv on Saturday for another MU W.
I wasn't ready to fire Wojo after IU and Kansas, I am not building a statue of him today. It was one of the most exciting Marquette games I have ever seen. But it is one game in early January. A freaking awesome one, but 15 league games to go, along with the postseason.

Outstanding, refreshing perspective.
Wojo IMHO has become a solid college basketball coach. He's not a genius, nowhere near the top of the profession, but solid at everything -- recruiting, ego management, game situations, motivation, etc.
Still relatively early in the season, as you say, and also still relatively early in his career. He can and will get even better.
I think most of us are on pins and needles this year because this year is the year we have waited for for quite some time. Wojo in his 5th year and the team is ready for a deep tournament run. Its been 5 years since we have won a NCAA tournament game and many of us expect this year to be the year to end that stretch. This game was one that many thought we would win but not in this fashion. To be honest this is a game that could dictate whether we win the big east or not. Not just from 1 more win but the fact that it was on the road against a team that WILL knock off Villanova on Sunday. Had we lost I fully believe it would have effected our team mentally until they won on the road.
For us die hard Marquette fans we were used to being in the NCAA tournament every year before Buzz screwed us over so I understand why people lash out when we lose games we should win. I for one am not looking for just a NCAA appearance but at minimum playing the 2nd week of the tournament.

All of that is fair IMHO.
Not to sound like chicos/WarriorDad/hoopaloop, but the NCAA tourney really is a crapshoot -- now more than ever. Except for maybe the top 2 or 3 teams, nobody in the entire country has separated themselves from the rest. I could totally see another 16-over-1 upset, and certainly 15-over-2.
And although I think we have a good team this season, our margin for error is very small because we have some flaws too -- as just about every team in the country does.
I'm working hard at enjoying the journey and not focusing so much right now on the hoped-for destination. Games like last night are a gift -- not just because CU literally gave it to us, but because we got to see history made by a fun, exciting, hard-working, resilient (but flawed) Warriors team.
To make a deep tournament run, we have to play well, obviously. But we also will need a few friendly bounces. I think folks forget the close calls we had against Davidson in 2013, Holy Cross in 2003, Kansas State in 1977, etc.
Enjoy the journey. It's been fun (in a torturous way) so far, and we still have 15 BEast games to go!
