Poll
Question:
Since we had a poll on whether or not he will stay id like to see what you all think of his chances this year or next year and beyond
Option 1: Second round pick this year
votes: 1
Option 2: Second round pick next year
votes: 47
Option 3: First round pick next year
votes: 5
Option 4: Undrafted / workout / d league
votes: 41
Option 5: Europe or asia at best
votes: 11
Since we polled his chances of leaving. Lets poll his draft outlook for this year and beyond
The exact same as it was after 40 pts in a half against Buffalo.
Currently not on 2019 mock draft board by the site below. 56th on 2020. This site was pretty accurate when it came to Henry Ellenson.

Idk how people could possibly think he could have an nba career. He may have a cup of coffee in the g league at best. He's to small and unatheltic. Who could he guard in the nba? The ball handling is not there either.
I tend to agree with exactly this. Hes gonna get abused by nba level bodies. I wish him the best but even 6 inches taller and he does not have the handles or explosiveness. I hope we see some of that change.
Novak was just about as pure imo but his height got him a look.

A 6'4" Markus Howard would've been a first round draft pick in this past Draft.
The only thing Howard will be declaring for is a major. Great 4 year college player though. He ll bounce back.
A lot of courage starting this thread to rag on Markus after he had a bad game in a bad loss. Bravo.

6'4 allows him to play more off the ball
At 5'11 he has to play on the ball yet has poor ball handling and bad court vision. Has gotten better in those ares but still sub par for a pg

So why do another poll?
Markus can score 38 next game and he's a maybe again for second round discussion, just like last poll. Tonight he went against an elite defender who is NBA sized guard at 6ft 5 and it showed. Simon was in his face big time and his size/defensive ability killed him. Nothing gonna change.
But, if Markus was 6ft 5, he'd be a lottery pick.

He did not merely "get a look."
He had a 12 year career, and lead the NBA in 3pg in 2011-12.
He also earned more than $23 million

It's 2019, baby
Howard is a great college player, I hope he get his dream of NBA. In meantime, will enjoy him and hope he and team can bounce back.
One guy I thought played ok tonight was Chartouney...looked for his shot, was aggressive more than usual.
Every Big East team will key on Markus, not a surprise. Team has to find a way to adjust
One interesting point of reference for Markus future is Andrew Rowsey's performance in Hungary this year. He has played in 23 games( started 5) is averaging 10 ppg in 19 minutes 2 assists and 1.65 turnovers. Shooting 37.3 percent from 3 and 39.7 percent overall. efg 53.6. Seems like Andrew has found a level he can compete at effectively.

Glad that Wade kid got a look, too.
Markus will finish his 4 year MU career with a degree and as an all American who holds the school scoring title. He might be the best collegiate player any of us ever see.
Having said that, regardless of how he played in his last game, he is not an NBA player.
Jerel is the nearest comp, but he's 3" taller - at least - and had better PG skills. Vander taller still. Mo might be the best comp size-wise and in terms of offensive skill, (Mo today, not college Mo) but also a much better PG and still will never get a sniff of the NBA.
Markus will make plenty of money playing professionally and will entertain thousands of fans, but it will be in leagues where teams can afford a 2 that can't play D and/or where D is not valued as much.

Disagree with your comps, but agree that Markus has many things working against him in his quest for NBA $$.

The six figure pension is nice too.

My comment was 100% accurate in 2019. 2000, nope...but we are in 2019...check your calendar.

Yeah, not good comps at all. Despite Jerel being a scorer as well, he was not a shooter. Markus is one of the best shooters MU has had. I don't think he has a good chance to make it long-term in the NBA, but I do think he has a definite shot at being drafted in the second round next year. Especially if MU makes some noise in the tournament one of these two years.
I'm just answering to the question whether he will be a draft selection. Most of you are projecting his long-term success as a potential NBA player, and I agree it's not good.

Doubling down on the truth....as inconvenient as it is for you. Note, I didn't say a word of whether it was good or bad that grandma can do this, the point is she can. 2019.
Things change. Progress. Happy New Year

Mo has carved out a very nice price career in the lower level leagues in Europe. I enjoy watching him play in the TBT.

Hard to find Comps for Markus in fact because he's an elite shooter, but the paradigm I'm using is that he would need to be a PG to go NBA and he's simply not... and I was only using recent MU comps.
I think Mo is great to watch... always enjoyed him and have followed his overseas and TBT career.
Hard to see him be selected, but if he can become a better decision maker with the ball and improve his PG skills.
