I would have guessed MU -1.

Guessing that will slide down closer to even before tomorrow night.

Oddsshark indicating it opened at 2.5 but Betonline has it as even, so who knows?

This is a weird game. In a vacuum, I think Marquette should win. But when I look at the conference schedule as a whole, I think this is the 3rd or 4th hardest game on the schedule and I expect 4-6 conference losses. If we lose, we are still on track for 12-6 or better, if we win then we give ourselves some breathing room.

T Rank projects Marquette,  Butler, and Villanova to tie for first at 11-7.

St. John's is favored by 1.6 on T Rank for tonight.

So, MU should be a big underdog.
Not so, that is not how the book works, it balances the bets and makes money on the action.  The vig. and the ties....it does not want skin in the game.
We all know that.

Problem is the St. Johns Long Island Alumni and the Carnessecca  Arena.   One of the most enthusiastic fan bases around, not the students they are 65% Asian and really don't care, also they are one of the most knowledgeable and sportmanslike fan bases.

This is a common misconception. Books take sides ALL the time. Not every dollar is created equal. Todd Fuhrman has a fascinating blog. One of the posts talks about sharp money. If books wanted balance,  Reverse Line Movement wouldn't be a thing.

Thank you for the interesting data.  Note the number of students from Queens.  Yes, probably most of those students were born in Queens.  I did not catch the number of Asians.

In the center of their campus they have a pagoda.  We have the Joan of Arch chapel, ND has TD Jesus and the golden dome, they have a pagoda.  They knew the changing demographics 40 years ago.  The pagoda is their School of Asian Studies.  I probably should have said, Asian Americans.....

Enjoy the game, last game I saw there was with Buzz and we won in overtime.  The alumni were very informed, and fun.  Can't say the same for the Seton Hall alumni.

My sources show the game started as a pick em then moved to St.J -2.. (I just hopped in on MU +2... usually don't mess with MU games, but burning time before tip off)

Not a fixation.  Just a Queens kid sharing a little information with his country cousins from Wisconsin.  Consider, I lived in Milwaukee for 5 + years, and worked at a Minnesota Company for 7,  I know the thought process of my midwest friends.

You can take the kid out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the kid.

Mullin plays city ball, some call it playground ball, we play sophiscated ball, some call it prep school ball.  This time the ballers won, next time we may fair better.

I am retired, gave up analysis of data 8 years ago.  Nevertheless, in the center of St. Johns campus is a pagoda, that is not a fixation, it is a fact.  They knew the changing demographics of Flushing back in the 80's.  My closest friend is married to a Chinese doctor and they live in Flushing.  Population in 2010, 72,000, 70% Asian.

Watching the game the other night, I could see the heavy alumni support and the few students.

Oh, I also have been noticing how many dairy farms have been closing in Wisconsin and how many fewer cows, not a fixation, just an intetest.

What can I say?
However, I did say, country cousins and not country bumpkins.

No direct relationship between Coach Mullin and the pagota mentality other than that they play very HARD BALL in Queens.

The effort of the Big East leadership to turn the league into some kind of intellectual basketball icon is doomed to fail.  I hope our guys learned their lesson last week.

And just think, a few days ago some of you guys were debating giving or getting a few points.  Hope nobody lost their tuition money.

I'm not proud, in fact I feel guilty, that I took book at the Vogue, across the street from the library, and saw too many student gamblers lose their tuition money to the thugs.  The statute of limitation has long ago passed.  I was young and foolish, but there was a lesson learned.
You never beat the book, no matter how smart you think you are.  No matter how much inside information you think you have.  No matter how sophiscated your algorithm.
Who do you think paid for Vegas?  The losers, and all gamblers are losers. As our goodfather Al  said, the only people you find in bars are losers.  And his family owned a bar in Queens.
