Title: SOTG Editorial Policy
Post by: 1SE on December 20, 2018, 02:43:25 AM
I haven't been here since the start, but is there an editorial policy laid out somewhere for the SOTG process? Is there a thread somewhere that explains the magic behind the white smoke? (If I have one beef with this free and volunteer-run site it is that the search function is truly abysmal - the results are ordered by????)

But if not, what are the ingredients that go into the sausage? There used to be a poll (but that was non-binding?) Now it's the council of viziers conditioned on which sandwich Rocky had at Arby's? What's the weighting on scoring/sheet-stuffing/usage/efficiency/heroics/answering the bell/expectations(exceeding therein)? Inquiring minds need to know!

Hey, no doubt. Just wanted to get some insight into how the magic happens. I mean, come on, this isn't the NET or anything... (Or is the SOTG process proprietary)?

Science, math, statistics and all that stuff that put a man on the moon, built safe automobiles and skyscrapers that can withstand earthquakes is terribly overrated.  Better to leave the important stuff to opinion and conjecture.  While allowing debate, our ruler will finally decide for himself all matters of importance.

Our opinions might help sway but do not decide.

Tell me more about 5 for 5 B&CS.  Haven't seen that for years.

And the illuminati make the SOTG decision.   Rocky is just their minion.

I'm gonna just get this ready. I smell a possibility of blasphemy and think our malevolent rulers may make an example of someone

The mods are our philosopher-kings and we are beholden to their process.  Ours is not to question why, but to accept their decisions with the understanding that they hold all wisdom and knowledge.

As long as they follow the recommendations of many Scoopers who want to give sympathy SOTGs to guys who surprisingly get 10 pts, 5 rebs and 2 assts instead of the guys who go for 30 points, I'm happy!

As a point of info .. I think I've 'elected' a SOTG maybe 5 times, including the Rob Frozena debacle of 2010.

Maybe we should weight average SOTG's based upon the opponent. That is SOTG against a top 25 team is more valuable that SOTG for a 300th ranked team.

After tonight the Mods have it easy. Just paste and copy Markus as the SOTG for the next 19 games.
