Yes, tough and quick, and play a high defense. MU can't turn the ball over like tonight, and should start the game by focusing on getting the ball inside. MU's game isn't really to slow it down, but I don't see us running with the Bulls.

This. Buffalo lives in transition. Will be ugly if we play this loose with the ball. Get them in a grind out game and we will win.

I wonder if Wojo asked the team to push, push tonight, just to test the idea of keeping up with Buffalo. (Admission: I'm only listening to the game, so not seeing what's going on.) If so, I hope he's realized that it shouldn't be a strategy on Friday.

Based on nothing more than the scores of their games, it looks like Buffalo has won both "run and gun" games and "grind it our games" pretty equally this year.

Had MU losing to Indiana, Kansas, and Buffalo in the non-con. Hoping I get my first game wrong this Friday.

Final score isn't a great indicator. Gotta look at turnovers and transition points. Buffalo is top 35 in the country in forcing turnovers and top 50 in efficiency in transition opportunities. That is how they like to win.

It was not comforting to watch Buffalo's guards up in the Syracuse's guards grills 5 ft from the half court line, then changing the channel to MU having turnover after turnover against North freaking Dakota early in the game.

Massinburg looks legit and Perkins is a Big Kid, gonna have to take care of the ball and make some shots

Great to be playing in MKE, keep the Fiserv streak alive and get the W.....Go Warriors!

The fact that all his jokes and shtick  were massive troll jobs basically made me love the guy.

Wins at WVU and Cuse. This will be a solid test for MU. Should be a very good game.

Agreed. Those are not easy places to win. Buffalo will be a very good test for us.

Hopefully, we'll make 'em play like the Chicago Bulls!

Does Buffalo remind anyone of Indiana?  Might be a good thing to review the Indiana game.  We need our wings Bailey and Cain to play their A-game.  Very athletic team coming to town.

5 seniors...grown men.

KSU though had 3 seniors and 2 juniors.

Buffalo better but we're at home.

Should be good game if we keep TOs below 10-12. If not, we could lose double digits.

From what I have seen, Buffalo can win in a number of ways. They are mature, smart, tough and respond effectively in most any situation. They are not afraid to play from behind, waiting for the opportunity to turn you over and score in a burst. Their guard play is really good and extremely quick to the basket. Well coached as well. Syracuse though they had them down last night and Buffalo played serious game changing defense, stepped on their throat and never looked back.

I think we have superior raw talent. Need to bring the "D" big time! Doing that and playing tough with the ball to avoid a 21 turnover night we can win this game. I wish the students were in town!

Beating this team would earn substantial respect. These guys have street cred!

Buffalo had a large contingent of fans at Syracuse.  That won't happen at FF.  I'm guessing they are thrilled to have landed one of the two scalps they needed.  Will be a tough game, but MU pulls this out.

KenPom now has them listed as an A game for us.   When's the last time MU had 3 A games in its non conf.  Great stuff.

Buffalo plays at a very fast pace and are extremely aggressive on putting pressure on the opposing guards bringing the ball up.  Their guard, Jordan, is a "floper", like Wiskey's Davison and I believe the announcers in pre-game stated he leads the country in getting charges called against him.  Markus will have to be very, very careful.

They took 33 three point shots against Syracuse, think they hit 10.

Key to game will probably be if Anim can guard Massinberg, who at 6ft 3 200lbs., will be a load.

I watched a few minutes of the Buffalo game before MU started and all I pictured was the turnover fest of the Indiana game.  Not a great feeling

I'm going to assume you mean home games, but overall Marquette has 5 A games in non-conference.

I think we see a lot of small ball in this game to cope with their 5 out offense.

Joey I think gets big minutes and stays on Perkins. If Joey can give him same treatment he gave Dean Wade that takes a big weapon away from them. Ed probably spells him if anybody.

Sammy matches up with Jeremy Harris. He's had a rough shooting start to the year but he shot 42% from deep last season with over 90 makes. This season he is shooting 26% from deep but take away his 4/5 performance against D2 LeMoyne and its an even worse 22%. Can't let this be the game he finds his stroke.

Sacar will get the tall task of slowing down CJ Massingurg. This is the matchup I am most unsure about because the guy is just beast of a player. He has a triple double on the season and his two biggest games were against the two biggest opponents (@West Virginia and @Cuse). I think he will get his but if Sacar can just slow him down that would be huge.

I think Markus gets Jayvon Graves. He's the fourth scoring option but has big game potential with three games of 16 points or more already. Do to him what he did to Trice and keep him from going off.

Finally I'd put Joe on Davonta Jordan. I know Joe had a rough go of it last night but Jordan is the floor general and is prone to some sloppy turnovers. If Joe can channel his inner steals leader of the last two seasons it could completely throw off their offense.

I'm not worried about our ability to stop their half court offense. It's our offense that will win or lose the game for us. We will have a lot of opportunities to create mismatches with this team. We will have a massive height advantage on the wing. This would be the perfect game for Jamal of Bailey to find their stroke from deep. If they don't, run ball switches until you can get one of the Hauser boys matched up on one of their 6"3 wings and fire away. I would try to establish Ed early and often. If he can get some fouls on Perkins then I don't think Buffalo will have the horses to keep up.

Thank you for this thorough analysis, TAMU. I'm psyched for another big win over a ranked opponent for our surging Warrior Eagles.

The game was close until the last 4:25. Cuse only scored 2 points the rest of the game. Basketball is a game of runs. We will need to be sure to find a way to stop them when a run starts. I think a lot of that is on Wojo to call good plays out of the timeout.

Buffalo's win at Cuse last night basically means we can't lose on Friday night (I mean, we can lose, but even if we do, it doesn't really hurt us).

If Buffalo wins, then I think they likely become a sure-fire top 10 team and have a chance to go undefeated in the regular season--which means no one will sniff at a loss to them, even at home.  If Indiana sticks around the top 25, then our only non-con losses would be to top 25 teams.  If Buffalo lost to both us and Syracuse in one week, there's a danger they'd drop out of the rankings altogether.

If we win on the other hand, we'll likely be the only tournament team to beat them, which will be a great feather in our cap.

And, if Buffalo had lost to Syracuse, I'd be nervous that they'd come out gunning on Friday.  Now, there is a chance that we can catch them on a down night after a big win, the weekend before Xmas.  Basically, this set up about as well as you can imagine for us, other than concerns about having a good home crowd.
