Is Jordan Lathon eligible? If not I guess Markus.
Markus, with a tip of the hat to Sacar and Joey.
J Hauser
Tough call tonight. Like that Joey was efficient on a night that the rest of the team wasn't. So was Sacar. I would be okay with Markus too.
Any of those three.
Well we know Sam is not SOTG; he was shooting blanks tonight.
Markus.
Joey not far behind
Markus (stop with the hero ball disses)
Joey (this young man will be our best player by next year if not before)
Ed...a distant 3rd but starting to show his value...the dude is a grown man physically
Theo...so impressed with his growth
Sacar...keeps impressing...my prediction for sotg vs uw
Joey. In our worst defensive performance at home all year, I can't vote for a guy that got burned at least twice on pretty simple back door cuts the way Markus did. That's just a lack of focus.
Joey
Sacar
Ed
Markus but not for the usual reason. He was on Evan Gilyard tonight. Gilyard averages 19 points a game with 46% three point shooting. He held him to 10 points on 4/15 shooting including 1/8 from deep. Add in the 21 points and some fancy assists and he's the stud.
Shout outs to Sacar and Joey.

In wojos post game interview with homer he gave sacar credit for the defensive job on gilyard. Team effort no doubt, but wojo thought sacar was on him enough to give him the mention.
Markus, Sacar or Joey. Sacar was the only one who didnt piss me off at times. But Markus and Joey may have been more important.
Markus' defense has really improved this year.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Plus, watching it seemed like Sacar spent more time on him too. So given the defensive effort plus the offensive results, I'd have to give it to Sacar. Joey as runner up.

Truth. Saw Wojo talk to Lathon briefly at end of the game. Hope he was planting the seed for a transfer to MU. 8-)
Sacar for his offense and defense and only one turnover.
Sacar.
Sam and Howard a combined 2-14 from 3. A lot of wide open misses. What's up with that.

That's what I get for relying on the eye test while at the game. In that case I might slide Sacar above Markus.
JHauser. A few bad free throws but pretty efficient
Joey
Joey, Sam a close 2nd.
Wrote Sam. Meant Markus. You are correct "Sam who"...for tonight.

Right. I love Sam. But tonight was not pretty.
Sacar, then Joey.
Markus. Helped us gut out a win we had to have.

I agree....but can we appreciate though that in a "not pretty" night Sam scored 8 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished 4 assists? Also had a steal and a block.
Joey. Had some key baskets inside of 5 mins.
Joey
Patient, key baskets, nice late assist.

You may want to watch a replay and observe closely. I am watching the replay right now. The game plan was Sacar on Gilyard from the opening tip and he guarded him 85% of the time. When Sacar went to the bench Chartouney guarded Gilyard. Markus ended up on Gilyard a few times when Chartouney got lost on defense and could not find his man. Markus was on Hawkins or McGee (the 2 small point guards) all night.

Noticed this last year as well, there are times like last night when Sam puts an unnatural amount of arc on his 3P shot. Last night he was throwing up rainbows.
Joey for SOTG by a hair over Markus.
Sacar.
Joey had too many freshman moments. Agree with the sentiment that Sacar was the only one who didn't piss me off.
Sacar or Joey
Sacar
Joey in a nose over Sacar. The former would have been an easy choice for me without the missed front end FTs.
More thought, especially the defensive side, and I'm on the Sacar bandwagon. He was efficient, didn't turn it over, and held Gilyard to one of his worst outings of the season.
Joey
Sacar had a great game. Timely buckets, consistent all night. Should have been guarding Lathon down the stretch, no idea why Markus was on him. Because of that he wasn't a huge factor in the last 5/6 minutes but I'd still have him as SOTG.
Sacar
Sacar, Joey, Markus
Sacar for his drives and defense

After more reflection overnight, I concur. Markus had the points, but Sacar brought it on both ends.

Already amended and will take my 50 lashes with a wet noodle. Was at the game and I always feel like I get a less clear picture being at the game live than watching at home. Markus was on Gilyard a few times and those happened to be the times I was watching and thought that good defense was being played on him. Probably because I expect good D from Sacar and not from Markus so it stuck out more.

For this purpose, I agree - Joey should get SOTG. When it was getting uncomfortably close, he got us buckets. He's evolving into being our best option as "the guy who can go get you one." Markus has the ability as well, but Joey has the game at midrange and down low, which give him a bit better likelihood of producing a bucket or foul/subsequent FT's.
Sac, not only for this but his body of work over the past few weeks. His ability to get to the rim is vital and defense critical. I'm glad he is starting.
Remember when some folks were projecting <10 mpg for Sacar this season?
Valuable player. Reminds me a little of glue-guy Lockett but more athletic and better offensively.
It's Sacar for me.

I wanted to go with Sacar, but when its close I'm looking for the guy for instant help and that was Joey.
Joey Hauser
Honorable Mention- Sacar and Markus
I'd go with Joey.
It was close, but no Sacar.TM
Also, did I miss something with that travel call against Joey when he was bringing it up in transition? I replayed it like 4 times and couldn't see any travel.
(Related: if Joey doesn't rein in this coast-to-coast stuff, I'm going to start calling him Space Ghost.)
Thought Morrow had a quiet, good game overall. He's getting more comfortable on offense. Definitely like to see him progress little by little like some of our past transfers.

He took 17 shots and missed on 11 of them. He will get many more stud of the game throughout the year, but did not deserve it last night over Sacar or Joey, especially when you look at Sacar's defensive effort along with a solid offensive game.
Joey and then Sacar. I was really happy with Morrow's game. He will continue to see more minutes as the season goes on.

Totally agree with the above. As easy as it is to focus on Markus' scoring, there's more to the game than just racking up points.

I took guest to the game. He had never been to a Marquette game and knew little about the team. I explained to him that Markus and Sam were not just good 3 point shooters - they were elite! He is not too impressed with my basketball acumen.
