Title: Direction of the Program; Rave Time-out specific
Post by: The Lens on December 02, 2018, 10:45:16 AM
Where are we at with the Rave Timeout?

IMO, the Rave Timeout is the best thing Marquette basketball has done in the past 5 years (beyond recruiting the Hauser's). But it needs work.

Fine you want to award a faculty member.  Ok.

But do we need to promote a tee shirt toss too?

And the music, I'm 43, I feel like if I can recognize it, we need new stuff.  Are we letting the kids pick?  bc we should.

This has a chance to be the greatest thing ever (even better than light blue quarter zip guy) but it needs to be worked at.  Are we confident Marquette can do it?

DJ SnackDaddy has drastically underperformed expectations.

Did Wojo hire him?

What's wrong with music you recognize?  People are much more likely to dance to music they recognize and like. See "Jump Around" and "Apache".

Snackdaddy has to watch the tempo.  He played a really slow rap song a couple of games ago during the disco timeout and the kids were like, "What are we supposed to do with this?"

They have the lights turned up way too high on the student section.

And I agree that they should move the other promos to a different break.

I think if a 43 year old recognizes the rave song, it shouldn't be the rave song.

Maybe not at an actual rave....

Fun fact, Turbulence is likely just as old as some of the freshmen in the student section.

I expected the DJ to bring fresh to the FF. I don't know what fresh is honestly anymore, but old Martin Garrix and Knife Party isn't it.

All due respect warrior chick, that slow rap song was Mo Bamba.  You likely don't know it but guaranteed the students definitely recognized it and it was great

They weren't dancing, which is the entire point of the disco timeout, so I will stick with my original assertion that it was a bad choice.
