It's Markus but Sacar getting to the hoop is what opened up the offense. It's what we've been missing

No disagreement at all.  On a day when Sammy couldn't get it going, those 3 plus some manly rim protection served us well.

Matty played some damn good ball.  He got toasted a couple times in the second half but nobody plays within himself better.  And in a team plagued by turnovers, his presence on the floor can stabilize things sometimes.

Does Sam have the flu?  We didn't need his offense today, as Markus made KState's on ball defense look silly.  But, we will need Steady Sam going forward.

Clearly, clearly Markus.

Great game by Sacar to be aggressive and pick up some slack on the scoring, but it's still not close to a 40+ pt performance

He didn't do a lot of scoring, but 5 assists in a game with that many whistles is no small feat (7 boards and solid D too).  Chartouny starting to settle in.

After Marcus and Sacar I feel like Joey should be getting way more buzz here. The pregame was all about KState's D Wade being a matchup nightmare for us. I have never seen the guy play. I feel like I still haven't. He was a nonissue the entire game. I just checked the stats. He had 11 points and 3 rebounds.  It sure didn't feel like he even had that much. Joey doesn't seem like the most athletic guy but he shut Wade down. For the future that is one of the most encouraging things about this game.

Joey played excellent defense on Wade.    Not as good offensively.   He is long and played solid position defense all game.    Which brings it back around to the defense and how much improved MU's defense is.    Rowsey was just plain bad.     Having two sub 6 ft guards in a league full of 6'4 guards was a problem every single game.     This year's team has length and depth and experience and toughness.   Those things alone improve the defense.    The defense seems to be altered a bit, playing more of a contain, because the team no longer has to try to pressure up high because they fear getting over powered inside.

The screen Joey set for Markus in the first few minutes when Markus hit the three with no time on the shot clock was such a smart play. I don't think many freshmen would have the awareness to do that in that situation

Was interesting in the 1st half when Heldt came in after Theo and Ed were in foul trouble.  The KSU bigs hung around outside after banging at Theo and Ed.   Weber was apparently trying to draw Matt outside and open the lane, but Matt stayed in a one man zone underneath.  KSU did not react well. Very noticeable to see the change in defense there.  Give  Wojo credit for that.

Yep. Joey, like his older brother, has a very high basketball IQ. Both of them do many of the little things that make a big difference.

The defensive scheme and philosophy also are improved.  We aren't pressuring out nearly as high as we'd been in past years.  We are protecting the paint better.  I wouldn't call it a pack line defense per se, but, we've reduced the amount of floor we are defending, and that combined with not playing Markus and Rowsey together has helped a ton - to your point.
