I watched Dexter play yesterday.Very solid and strong.Great defender.Good handle and passer.Only took a few shots.Hit 1 of 2 threes and had a awesome put back dunk as he came through the lane.Good teammate. He reminds me of a young Tony Smith.
Did he play point?
Excellent. Thanks for the update. Excited that he will be joining us next season.
Played point about half of the game

I watched the first half...he played the point with the starters and moved off the ball at times when subs came in.
Agree with Aircraft. When I watched I was impressed with his unselfishness......seemed to have a good handle and has good size for a Big East guard. Made 1 3 that I saw and missed a couple of others. Had a beautiful drive and finish in the first half but didn't shoot much and I think the jumper is an area that he will look to improve.
Excellent body language...seemed like a good teammate....had quite a few assists....good vision.
I will have to watch more but he sure looks like he can defend at a high level which was the scouting report from this summer.
Reminds me a little of Elliott(no i don't expect him to be a rotation player next season). Not as advanced offensively but a willing passer and defender and the same kind of team first attitude.
Thanks for the update and analysis. The Elliott comparison was one I already had in mind from his tape and scouting reports. Sacar also came to mind. Perhaps a composite of the two?

Hopefully an Elliott skillset with Anim size.

I haven't figured out how to tape measure through my tablet......... ;D
I recall a post that stated that Dexter might be a good candidate for a Red-Shirt year? Why would that be, any thoughts?

Because we have 12 full scholarships & there aren't a lot of good candidates. I expect any non-top-50 player will be considered a redshirt candidate by Scoop until proven otherwise.
Besides, of the 12, McEwen, Morrow, Joey, Eke, & Anim already used redshirts, Howard & Sam will be the senior leaders, & Bailey already is 2 years ahead of his class. The only other candidates are John, Cain, & Elliott, so the relative unknown will always be the most-discussed option.

I like his highlight videos. High major body and athleticism. Good body control. Obviously with the normal caveat that highlight videos are unreliable, but I like the signing. Redshirt seems like a good idea just because we'll have upperclassmen ahead of him barring mass transfers.

It's almost as though he knew the shot was going to miss -- and exactly how the ball would bounce off the rim, and in exactly which direction -- even before it left the shooter's hand. Amazing play.

True.
Just an FYI - Put back dunks are fairly easy to execute as you have no need to deal with the ball on your way up. All body energy is put into the leap. Just a matter of timing, and that the ball come off the rim as you anticipate.

Thank you. Nothing like having one of the all time great putback dunkers to explain it so well to us gravity challenged terrestrials. Thx again.

You're welcome Knit. Was a pleasure to provide the context for for the gentleman who felt compelled to needlessly insert my name into the thread.
