::)

You mean NBA all-star caliber? So easy to find the diamond-in-the-rough or recruit the top 5-10 high school guys, right?

Diamond in the rough JUCO's who were initially dismissed by many because they weren't instant stars?

I think 4ever meant a player who is tough as nails. He's not wrong: wojo's teams lack grit. Hope that changes.

Rowsey was tough.  Greg is tough.  Theo is tough.  I think we'll see that Ed is tough.  Sam is tough.  I think we'll see that Joey is tough.

Just because we have guys that are shooters and finesse players that aren't out there throat slashing doesn't mean we don't have tough guys.

You guys can argue all you want in your little Buzz v. Wojo world.

I'll just focus on one thing.

JFB.   8-)

What's crazy, Goose, is that Butler was a by-product of the Fulce recruitment.

A couple guys in Plano told me that Fulce was a beast in high school until he blew out his knees.

This, Butler was not a target.  It was a by-product.

Fulce was a beast in high school.

I've never heard the BMO quieter than when he went down against TAMU(CC).  His screams were audible even from where I was up in the nosebleeds.

That is correct. A colleague of mine played hoops at UNC but he is a big fan of Buzz. He told me that in the 2011 Sweet Sixteen matchup with MU, the word inside UNC was that Williams did not want to play MU, especially after we knocked off Syracuse.

Williams considered MU the worst possible match up, despite it being a 2 v 11. His answer was to run and use depth to limit the intensity of MU's first 6. As it turned out, Butler did ok against Barnes, hardly great, while DJO, Buycks, and Crowder failed to show.

Williams knew that in a half court game UNC played a lot softer than Buzz' crew which is how we took out Xavier then SU to make the Sweet Sixteen.

Buzz is a weird f#ck but his teams play with an edge. Some of that would be refreshing, frankly.

You said it best, Buzz is a weird f#ck and his teams play with an edge. I found it refreshing to watch. The WVU win was as good as it gets for this fan.

In order to play with an edge the team has to have players with that mentality. When you review our roster, it is clear there are no modern day Bob Lackey's.

Ah yes the WVU win where the team got suspended for a half game because punishment is important but not as important as winning!

That was a great win but I always found that Buzz's approach to that game annoyed me. Half measures.

Marquette defined tough:

Lucky Lloyd arguing with Al as he brings the ball up court.

Goose cutting down the nets with a switchblade.

Al and Toone getting into a locker room fist fight.

Al tackling Lucky Lloyd in the locker room of the Natty game vs NC State.

Luke staring down Toby Knight and Knight blinks.

Luke staring down Bill Robinzine andf Robinzine blinks.

Luke belting Artis Gilmore.

Luke belting Chocolate Thunder.

Luke belting Lonnie Shelton.

Jay knocking down Corzine. Twice.

Luke setting a pick.

Delsman belting Lucky Lloyd.

Delsman decking Al at the Old Gym.

Neary staring down Mike O'Koren  and O'Koren blinks.

Neary staring down Bruce Flowers and Flowers blinks.

I forgot the best one:

Mrs. Larry McNeill beating up a woman in the stands.

Pretty sure it was Larry's wife who got into it with former MU baller, Andy Friedrich, hey?

I think you hit all of the highlights, with a little help from 4ever. I always enjoyed Lucky Lloyd jaw jacking Al on the way up the court.

Taking a couple of dance steps on the WV logo after we won when they played "country roads" was a classic Mike Deane type of move.  The WV students started throwing stuff at him and he went to the interview and told Bill Raftery "I danced and they got mad." I'll never forget that game.

As Buzz told his superiors, he had boosters that said he didn't have to suspend anyone.
