This is like discussing religion or politics. There is little chance of agreeing. However, being a basketball idiot here is my idea of the best team we can put on the floor.
Point guard: JOESEPH
Shooting guard: MARCUS
Forwards: SAM, JOEY, THEO
6th man: SACAR
7th man: JAMEL, BRENDAN, ED, MATT depends on the situation.
Need to send a message to Marcus that he will sit if he does not protect the ball. Not sure what to do about Theo`s foul issues.
SAM plays point when Joseph sits.
We need to stay with this line-up for several games. You have to pick a team so they learn how to play like a team. Churning the line-up causes confusion, particularly when folks are playing out of position.
So there you have my uninformed opinion.
*Markus
*Joseph
*Jamal
And Markus should be the back up point guard.
I agree on the starting lineup.
But Sam... Sam Hauser playing PG if JoeC isn't playing?

Thanks. That drives me nuts too. Just wait until Elliott come back.

I understand but Marcus turning the ball over is unacceptable.
I agree that we need to have Joe in the starting lineup and playing the lion's share of the minutes. I think yo'd be hard pressed to find anyone who sees Markus as the better option.
Instead of Sam taking over when Joe's not on the floor, I'd actually like to see Sacar get some run at the 1. He's less turnover prone than Markus, and being in his 4th year with the team, he's one of the guys who is most familiar with our offense. That would also give us more time with his defense on the floor.
Once we wrap up with the games in NYC, this could be a good role to let him test out. Worst case scenario, we stick with Markus. Best case scenario, we end up being having more flexibility with lineups and keep a solid defender on the floor more often.
I agree Marcus does not have a good enough handle to be the starting PG. However playing him there against the other team's backup PG or other situations where there is likely to be less pressure is certainly a risk worth taking. I think 10 - 12 minutes is certainly doable. We're all stinging from IU. But IU was keying on Marcus to take him out of the game and unfortunately we played right into their hands. Marcus can certainly run the point sometimes. He probably needs to because we're so guard light and he deserves to. It just can't be our primary lineup.

I feel like we should make this new motto into a T-shirt for the Marquette faithful.
Guards: Butch Lee, Dwayane Wade
Forwards: Steve Novak, Jimmy Butler
Center: Jim Chones
6th man: Jae Crowder
WE just may beat Kansas.

I don't know...Lee and Chones are in their 60s. They might be liabilities at this point. I'd think about Diener and Davante Gardner. They might not be in the NBA, but they are both still playing competitively at least ;)

You missed my point. I was commenting on how many of our scoop brothers can't seem to spell anyone's name correctly. 'One-T' Greg is and was the poster boy.

Sorry I didnt mean anything specific toward you -- just poking fun at the general feel thus far. Hopefully we change the sentiment this weekend.

Awfully small going up against a good front line.

Can't promise he is right. But that's what he is saying.

Yep. But they have to guard all 5 of our guys as well. Azibuke can't guard any of those guys on the perimiter, although I'd throw him on Cain and make Cain drive. He still doesn't look comfortable.
Joe C. - PG for sure...we all know it.
Hybrid coming up court to spell JC - Markus, Joey, Sam, Sacar...even Cain. as Circumstances warrant.
I almost want a press to allow us to share the ball up court.
Anything but Markus as the main handle....let him move off ball..get it..drive or shoot.
Better hope that Markus and Joe don't get in foul trouble if they are going to start the game.

I've seen this before. No JOE C. Just double Markus and Kansas wins by 15
