Let's break it down.....in no particular order.....
1) Markus. It's when he made his mistakes that mattered a little bit more. 3 dribble to's in first 2:30. Back to back ill advised shots late first half with MU on a run down 8. Would like to see the ball passed up court more often. There are times to try to force things and times not to do so. Knowing when is important. I am not concerned about what I saw first half from him. It needs to be better and it will be.
2) No one could guard Langford. Many teams will have that problem this season. Worst offenders were Sacar, Cain, Sam. The first two really struggled with it. And IU had very active help d early, MU did not. This improved later in the half. But MU was down 19-4 after 5 minutes.
3) Pace of game was too fast physically and mentally early for Joey, Morrow, Joe C,
pretty much all lf the new guys. Joey forces some deep ill advised jumpers. Imo his game is mod range attacking the basket. He had 3 nice buckets later in half but his d was slow, and his movement and decisions early were slow. I believe this will improve quickly for him.
4) Sam single handedly keeping MU in the game. He was more than prepared from the jump. He was terrific. He did tire late first half missing a few needed MU buckets.
5) Transition d was not good early. And IU was making shots especially from deep on the break. Credit to IU.
6) IU had speed and athleticism at 4 positions often in first half.
MU was down 47-34 at half. Early turnovers, poor transition d, poor help on dribble drives. Good help d for IU. Need to he better early in that environment. MU outscored IU by 2 for final 15 minutes of half.
Many of the above things can be quickly improved upon. Need to move the ball offense and make the extra pass.
I will post some 2nd half thoughts when i get the chance.
Thanks for this. Pretty sure I hit delete as soon as that debacle was done. My biggest worry going in was turnovers and them speeding the pace of the game. I think for this team to succeed, we need to slow our offense down, similar to Buzz with the midgets. Work for the best shot, because hero ball kills us.

Even in the cupcake games it seem the players defer to Markus or Sam when one of the other players are there with the open shot. We need to play as team, not highlight individual players.
I was really hoping that "Hero Ball" was over when Rowsey graduated.
First off, kudos on rewatching the game. You must have a high pain threshold.
Agree on your comments. Generally, I think MU will be fine...and Langford is really good.

Maebea Wojo shoulda tried "Herro Ball," aina?
22-29 Cain goes to the line for 2 shots.
Downhill from there.
