Poll
Question:
Should Marquette Continue the Dance Party Time Out?
Option 1: Hell yeah!
votes: 54
Option 2: Indifferent.

Option 3: God no!

There seems to be some mixed opinions on the dance party time out so I thought I'd create a poll. Would you like to see it continue or no?
Personally, I liked it. It was unique and for big games when the place is packed, I think the students will go crazy. If the added entertainment before the game and during timeouts brings more students to the game, I'm all for it.
Are there any students on here? If so did you guys enjoy it?
It was kinda awesome
It's creating enough hype around here, seems to be working. A key rule of advertising, get people talking.
I'd pick and choose the spots for it, but I can see that really getting the students going.

Video?
They cut all the lights, had flames shooting from the basketball hoop stanchions, shot lasers from the main video board, had a spotlight on the student section, and played the song below.

Keep it. (I'm sure the sweater vests would rather hear the band play the same songs they've been playing for 30 years though.)
I'd only play it during the second half when the opposing team takes a timeout to try to kill momentum.

Couldn't find a video but Marquette Basketball's facebook had a photo.

Can anyone definitively say that this didn't break any rules? I thought it was fine, glad it hyped of the students... but was concerned it would affect the coaching.

Well, it happened and MU wasn't penalized for it.
My thought was it could be a one time thing just trying to show off all the cool things they can do at the FiFo.
I thought it was amazing.
I thought it was neat! I bet the old people like it as well.
I would raise the lights on the student section a little, just to show off how much they are dancing and jumping around. I am sure you couldn't see them at all on TV.

It was a TV timeout so you wouldn't see it on TV no matter what.

It took them a second but they did put a spotlight on both teams huddles. My guess is we wouldn't just do something without clearing it first but who knows

Fine,
I want to see them.
Also, if #unleash is correct and we aren't supposed to be turning down the lights, I think Marquette should fight the ruling to make it a topic of discussion for the FS1 guys. They need something to talk about now that Markus is a legal adult. They would certainly show at least a clip of it then.
I thought it was awesome. I also think it should be saved for the second half of close games.

Agreed.
Play it during the second half while flashing a sign for free shake shack shakes on the jumbo tron.

Not sure if it was a sarcastic cheer, but the free shack shack last night got a HUGE pop!

Agree. They were trying to show it on the scoreboard, but it was so dark you couldn't see anything, so basically the scoreboard was showing a darkness.

How much hack-a-shake-shack should we expect this year?

I was going to ask: what is the dance party time out?
Mentioned this in the other thread. If it is music only without talking, without a host, I am all in with that. Mix in the band once in a while too.
Well today's dance party sucked. They ruined it leaving the lights on and cutting back on lasers.
Bad.

We'd get more lasers if Vander had properly slapped fives.
Forget the dance party, bring back the bat
Yes. Creating fun ideas is a good thing.
