I thought this deserved its own thread, maybe I think about food too much. But this thread can be used to list good finds, good drinks, etc.
So, I have a couple of questions, if anyone knows:
Is there someplace that has coffee, preferably iced coffee? I'm getting old, but with a long drive home after 8:00 games, I will need a coffee. I know it will probably run $10 bucks for a 8 oz cup, but it would be worth it if it keeps me awake. Unlike $11 beer.
Any good finds for vegetarians who don't eat fried food nor junk food (no nachos, etc)? I know, live a little, but I'm older and have younger kids so I need to take care of myself and I don't like the idea of having heart surgery in my '60s. For those days where I can't eat before the game, I'd like something other than a salad such roasted veggies, maybe a good wrap, veggie tacos, hummus (but not some prepackaged garbage)... etc.
Thanks in advance. I don't want to spend game time walking around in search of food.
The south side food court on the south end of the upper deck has a (reportedly) high-end Mac & Cheese stand, fancy grilled cheese and freshfin poke. Not sure if that helps but it's all in one area so you can peruse all 3 and not waste much time.
My issue with the food process is that it seems some stands are making you pay, and then you get a receipt to walk down to the end of counter and wait for your food. It doesn't seem very efficient.
I'm sure studies were done and it is more efficient and it's just learning the process, but for the Bucks exhibition game, it was pretty messy. The Carroll game didn't really have enough people to make it an issue.

All true.

There was supposed to be a mobile app where you could order food and go pick it up. Is this only for Bucks games?

Part of that may be internal control. It's a lot harder to pocket the money or give your friend 3 cheeseburgers when they only paid for one if you have to show someone else your receipt to get your food.
It also may be a a food safety issue. Money is filthy and often covered with staph and e. Coli. In some places its even a health department requirement that after each time you handle money, you have to wash your hands before you can touch food.

Yes. The freshfin poke was directly behind my section 205 and the grilled cheese was a section down towards center court.

Hopefully the Warrior Eagles will keep you awake with their outstanding, exciting, winning play.
Question for the board:
Am I the only one who eats either before or after games (or both)? Yes, I'm a cheapskate. But I also don't want to wait in concession lines, don't want to snarf down food while I'm trying to pay attention to the game and is willing to pay for good food from good restaurants.
For the Providence game, we'll probably go out to breakfast beforehand and grab a Leon's frozen custard afterward. We'll spend less, perhaps significantly less, than if we ate at the game, and the food will be good, too.

Nah, I don't really like eating at the game either. Of course I haven't really considered the new options at the WarriorDome, but I'd look at a $5+ brat and be underwhelmed, especially as I'd figure I'd need more than one to be satisfied. Not very healthy, not very good, not very cheap. Gotta at least get the "good" slider up if you want me to shave years off my life and dollars off my bank account on the reg.

I'm with ya. I can deal with the prices to a point, but when I'm at the game, I want to be able to fully watch the game. Almost always either eat before or after. The Saturday afternoon games with a Bucks game at night are perfect timing. Walk to a restaurant nearby, eat, then walk back just in time for the Bucks.

Off topic but I was at Broken Bat brewery (owned by an MU alum I believe) for a Q&A session with Tim Dilliard who pretty much confirmed this theory.
ETA: that makes sense Chick, but I don't believe it was at every stand. I did appreciate the process of filling draft beers seems to be improved in the new place. Some taps right next to the register.
Slightly off-topic, but the food at Miller Park is TERRIBLE. I would rather pack a bologna sandwich than eat at the stadium. I missed the Carroll game, but I have got to think the food at the FF will be much better. If not, there are a lot of good pre or post game food options a short walk or Uber ride away.

Haha. I admit its been a few years since I have been to Miller Park (I'm not a Brewers fan), but how can stadium brats and hot dogs be that bad?

Personal preference is to hit a nearby establishment for a pre-game meal and beer, and then a beer at the stadium. Rarely eat at the stadium. Speaking of nearby establishments, I'd be interested in hearing people's preferences since I will be heading to more games than the usual 1-3 this year. I typically end up at Turner Hall out of convenience, but would be interested in trying some others with good food, service and drink selection. I realize this subject has come up before, but places change and I'm too lazy to search for the old conversations. Thanks.

Disagree. I'm not sure what you ate at Miller Park, but the Zaffiro's pizzas are good, so are the tacos. And the brats are as good as ever.

Not all the stands are run by the same entity, or the same manager (who might dictate the system in place).

Depends on the timing of when I arrive in Milwaukee. I prefer to get food before, and a beer at the game, but if time is tight, I'll get a brat at the game. But beyond that and one beer I am not a big concessions consumer.

When forced to eat at Miller Park, I typically eat at either Stadium Club or A.J. Bombers. The A.J. Bombers burgers at the Miller Park are nothing like those in the restaurant. The Stadium Club needs a big upgrade. I will try Zaffiro's, it seems hard to screw that up.

We very rarely get food or drinks from concessions at sporting events. Never really have -- even at school events where it's not expensive. On the bright side, our kids grew up that way, so they never really bugged us for food/drink at events.
We much prefer getting a meal either before or after the game where the food is typically much better and our money goes farther.

Also reasonable.
I'm with ya on the kids, too. My kids simply didn't get anything like that - period. At an event, in line at the grocery store, etc. They didn't even ask because they knew the answer was no.
We actually treated them quite often to stuff, but it was at a venue featuring treats. For example, we'd go to DQ for ice cream but they didn't get it at a sporting event. Or we'd give them a couple of pieces of candy at home, but they weren't getting a candy bar at the checkout line.
Doesn't seem to have hurt their development. Indeed, I'd argue they benefited from it. (But maybe they wouldn't - ha!)

I've only eaten at Bombers 3-4 times, but I don't think I've ever enjoyed a burger at Bombers.

Iced coffee n vegetarian foods, two things that would never cross my mind at a bball game. U wild n crazy guy.
As someone who has made some modest dietary lifestyle changes recently, I can commiserate with the lack of decent options at arenas and stadiums.
Miller Park has a "healthy choice" stand on the field level with a bunch of premade wraps and salads, but quality is hit or miss (roughly the same as Arcia).
Lambeau has some decent options in the 1919 restaurant, but good luck getting in there on gameday.
And good lord, at the BC the healthiest option you had was hoping you'd contract food poisoning.
But I'm really looking forward to the poke at FiFo... nothing says "Screw you, Ralph [Stayer]... I want to live into my 70's" like a bowl of omega-3's and rice.

As someone who suffers from insomnia, I can't imagine drinking coffee in the evening, especially if the intent is to stay awake. It's not like you can "turn off" the caffeine once you get into bed.
If it works for you though, more power to you. I am jealous.
Thanks for the Poke suggestion and location, I'll be checking it out. It is probably too much to ask to have a non-fish version, but I'll live (just not the fish). Most restaurants have caught on to the healthier eating movement. Not arenas and sporting events that assume everyone will eat a hotdog or whatever they throwout to a captive audience. What is so hard about roasting a few veggies with a few spices.. simple, easy, profitable, and the trend. Most local restaurants get it.
Unfortunately drinking coffee will keep me up, but better than falling asleep at the wheel when I'm still driving at 11:30. Waking up before 5:00 AM and working hard all day, I'm spent and need some caffeine to be safe on the road. A coffee in the first half, get home, sleep by 1:00, living the dream :P
Anyway, I too prefer and try to eat before games at real restaurants, local with real chefs. But often I'm going straight to games after work with no time to hit a restaurant for real food. Whenever possible, however, it is real food at a real restaurant which Milwaukee luckily has tons of...

Wellness Rooms. These single-occupancy, lockable spaces are ideal for nursing, baby-changing, worship activities for all denominations, etc.
Designed for guests with developmental disabilities who need a quiet space during events. These Sensory Rooms feature soft carpeting, tactile wall hangings, and comfortable furniture.

Those new Medela pumps do hook up pretty fast.
I usually eat off-site. Something about Ms. Dgies wanting real food and not some hot dog made at a stadium. I agree with her.
Trying to decide whether I go to the UMBC game Tuesday. Have to be in Central Wisconsin for a 3:30 p.m., board meeting (which should go to 5:00 p.m.). Game starts at 8:00. Can I get to the Computing Castle in time for the game?
