Title: Tickets for games in NYC
Post by: Eye on October 28, 2018, 07:55:42 PM
Recall when it was confirmed that MU would be playing KU, and UL or UT in Brooklyn, that the best way to go about getting tickets was not through anything official, but rather through ...? Recalling Stubhub or scalpers were mentioned as better options? Thanks in advance.

Yes, stubhub or scalper the day of is definitely the way to go. Last time we played at Barclays you could get great seats for $20 right before tip. Obviously a better tourney this time with Kansas, Louisville, and Tennessee but the Wednesday night before thanksgiving in Brooklyn you will be able to cheap get tickets regardless of the teams.

I recommend using the StubHub kiosk:

I'd strongly recommend the StubHub location at 39th & Broadway. It's in the basement of a hotel and I know it sounds dodgy, but we used it for the 2K Classic in 2016 and it worked great.

They have a few computer kiosks you can use to purchase tickets, and people that can help you print them out. Prices tend to drop so the longer you wait the better. MU's price was $75/seat for the 2K. The first day we sat 12th row for $45 combined. I splurged the second day & we sat two rows off the floor at Madison Square Garden for $140. Spent $100+ less than the MU prices and got better seats.

We have since used that kiosk for Broadway shows and used the StubHub app to go to Hamilton in Chicago for cheap (mobile ticket option, purchased seats while we were driving past Gurnee). It's maybe a 15 minute walk to MSG and while I was nervous going in (MUFINY was the one to convince me to head to NYC without tickets) it proved to be a great decision both financially and in terms of getting the best seats.

You may need to allow a little more time to get to Barclay's, but the prices drop like a rock in the last couple hours.

Stub Hub definitely the best way to go. Once your in Barclay if the crowd is not large the staff will put people behind the team benches to give an image for TV that the arena is full. When we won the tournament a few years ago, the crowd beyond the MU was mostly put in place that way.

Out of curiosity, what does the kiosk give you that that app doesn't?

The sweet caress of a paper ticket

Mainly the paper ticket, which has admittedly become less important in recent years, but at least at the time there were non-mobile tickets that required a physical copy.

Thanks everybody. While the Kiosk sounds really good Brew, we're staying at an HI Express about 7 blocks south of Barclays, so kind of out of the way. Stubhub/scalper it is. Getting into NYC Tuesday night, so will have plenty of time to figure it out. Thanks again everybody and Go MU.

I just picked up Wed night tix mine on Seatgeek, section 210, row 1 for around $65 w/ fees and shipping.  (there are still some in that row, if you wanna sit near some MU fans).

A podcast I listen to has a promo code GRIT that gave me $20 off my first purchase on Seatgeek.

The Stubhub mobile options are also better than they were a few years ago, so as long as you can get mobile tickets you should be fine.

Went to the MU-Michigan game at the Garden, 2 hours before game paid $12.00 for two tickets, maybe 7K at Garden, moved right to middle of the court.  Ushers
did not care, no one there.  Michigan has a good following and I am sure Louisville and Kansas do as well, but MU and Tennessee doubt it, maybe 3/4 full, I would
wait and gamble.

I'm trying the reception before the Wednesday game.  If it is good, may also go Friday, depending upon availablility.

I was interested in reception as well, but it starts at 5p, same time as Kansas/Louisville tip, so we will likely skip as I'd like to watch both games. Maybe go Friday if Marquette plays in the first game of session.

Hey y'all,
Looks like I will have one extra ticket to the MU vs. KU game tomorrow.  Upside, it would be free!  Downside, you would have to sit next to me.

Upper section, row 1.  It's a hard ticket, and can meet up beforehand.

Feel free to PM me.

True! Meant Tennessee-Louisville. Guess my mind was foreshadowing Friday night's matchup after we dispatch rock chalk.

Reinko drives a white, windowless work van. He does some side work, so he might be dressed like a circus clown.

Dont worry,  he's harmless.
