The Big East and Big 12 are planning an annual "challenge" between the two leagues, per multiple sources. Event is likely to begin during the 19-20 season and could be finalized by next month.
Love everything about this.
This is huge. Great get for the conference and our future scheduling agreements. If it starts in 2019-20, that would mean we would get a full four seasons of combined Big 12/Big East challenges and Gavitt Games.
Hopefully, and due in large part to our equal conference numbers, we can get all ten members playing each other annually (Gavitt Games only have eight games).
This is being done in response to B10 and ACC going to 20 conference games and this is in response by adding one additional quality non-conference game to each school's schedule.
It would be kind of cool to do this during the conference season. Say over a Tuesday and Wednesday in late January.
Can't wait to get the Huggy Bear back into Turner's while his team stews on the bus.
Was told Mcabe would have MU or Wisc on schedule his junior or senior year,do maybe we will get West Viginia here!

I was thinking this too. Get rid of one of the week long breaks between conference games. My hope would be that would give schools more room during the non-conference season to schedule more quality opponents.
Great news and another reason for recruits to come to Big East Schools.
Should be good for the next TV contract. Schools from two of the top conferences in the Northeast/Midwest/Southwest for a guaranteed 5 dates is pretty decent market coverage.
I feel bad for all the Big 12 schools that are gonna get their arses kicked by our Warrior Eagles!
