"Maybe you should stop talking for a while, Champ."

"Ya, why don't you sit the next few plays out, if you know what I mean."

"How did it happen that their lips came together? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said."

--Poet Victor Hugo

Can we say "Kiss Cam"?  Are these current players on their team who will be here for the game at the BC?  If so, can we get the students to photoshop the heart thing around it and hold it up during the kiss cam at the game?

I was at that game in 1984 when Heiser started despising Marquette.

We had just survived the Scooter and Rodney McCray era (it seemed like they were at Louisville for 7 or 8 years!*).  I was expecting Marquette to struggle, so when they got an early lead, I whooped it up big time.  I was sitting in the Louisville season ticket section and was not very popular.  Eventually my host asked me to tone it down b/c he had to sit with these people at other games.  ;D

Marquette held off the Cards and won a very exciting game.  As I recall, Kerry Trotter played especially well.

*  I will never forget the sign I saw at the last home played by the McCray brothers.  It was on TV and someone held up a sign that said "Mrs. McCray, do you have any more sons?"  Classic.

Maybe a resourceful student could blow this up to the same size as the giant celebrity heads (and put a heart around it) and bring it with them to the game?  That would be INCREDIBLE!

We are 4 rows directly behind visitor's bench, so they would definitely see it.  I would bring the sign, but my hubby says that's one step from face painting and he would disown me.

Another great article off of that website: http://www.cardchronicle.com/story/2007/2/17/122857/089

They have a link to audio of Wardles last second shot.

And from the article:

5. 3/6/2004: Marquette 81, Louisville 80

Down 80-78 with under three seconds left, Louisville's Alhaji Mohammed (who apparently loved doing this) forgot who he was guarding as the Cards prepared to defend a Marquette out-of-bounds play from underneath the goal. The recipient of this good fortune for the Golden Eagles was freshman Dameon Mason who was standing all by himself in the left corner. Trigger man Scott Merritt found Mason who drilled the baseline jumper and was fouled by Mohammed, who was trying despereately to make Louisville fans kill themselves.

The win was the 100th for Tom Crean at Marquette.
