Home and home with Kansas state beginning in Milwaukee this year per Rothstein. Good match up.
I like it. Good choice. Good conference. Good team.

Nice!
So a road Gavitt Game, and UW and KSU at home. Makes you wonder if there will be another series starting on the road this year as well.

Physically tough team, all there players are back, rated in Top 15 in the country next year. This is a great test, made it to Final 8, lost to Loyola, coach from Marshall
High, good choice to play them in Mke this year, and MU will be better the following year to play them there. Will be a sell out at the new arena, should be.
K State is recruiting a lot of Milwaukee area kids. So smart move on their part to do the first game of the home and home at MU.
Wow, a nice addition to the overall schedule! It is nice to see Marquette getting a little more competition on that side. Realistically, we were one bad loss against either St. Johns or DePaul from being tied for 3rd in the conference (with 3 other teams) and probably going to the tourney!
Love the nonconference schedule so far.
We have the potential to be awfully good the next couple of seasons, and the schedule will certainly give us a chance to show it.

REEEEEACH of the Day!
Beasley is gone, right? And this game could actually affect MU's seeding?
Love the matchup. It's a win/win for both sides - except, of course, whomever loses.
I wonder if the Big East and Big 12 would ever agree to a scheduling arrangement. Such an agreement would benefit both conferences since neither can go to 20 conference games with only ten members. Each team would need to play two other teams per year, but it's better than forcing an expansion decision in order to keep up with the other large power conferences.
Add these games and the game with Buffalo, and Wojo is building one of the stronger non-con schedules we have seen in a while. Is he doing this because he's that confident in our team or that he thinks the Big East will drop a bit?
Yes.
Very smart scheduling by MU. Get them at home the year they will be a top 20ish type team and get them on the road after they graduate their three best players. Should have a reasonable shot to go 2-0 against them.
The team is growing up so next year is time for a big boy schedule and that is certainly what the staff is putting together. IMHO, here our announced non-conference games in order of difficulty:
Kansas/Tennessee (N)
Kansas State (H)
Buffalo (H)
Wisconsin (H)*
Louisville (N)
UMBC (H)
*Putting Wisconsin below Buffalo is not a dig at them, I really think Buffalo is going to be that good this year
We still need the Gavitt game which will most likely be on the road. After a major down year last year, expect the B1G to be a lot stronger from top to bottom (though weaker at the top). Unless we draw Minnesota/Illinois/Rutgers, any road game will be a tough one.
The 6 we know, plus the Gavitt game and the 2 on campus preseason NIT games, leaves 3-4 games yet to be scheduled. As much as I would love another home and home against a high major, I think they will all be buy games. As long as they don't screw up this part of the schedule and avoid major dogs, we will have one of the toughest SOS in the country. Get through the non-con with 3 or less losses and we are looking very good for the big dance. I think its possible, the only game I don't think we will be favored in at this point is Kansas/Tennessee.

Didn't Weber coach at UWM? I think his brother coaches at Glenbrook North, but used to coach HS ball in WI

Weber's entire career was as an assistant to Gene Keady at Western Kentucky and Purdue, before head coaching gigs at Southern Illinois, Illinois and KState.
Weber is from Milwaukee, never coaches there though.
Weber is a Milwaukee native. He's a UWM alum and I think he attended Milwaukee Marshall High.

Yup, Dave Weber has been at GBN for close to 25 years now.
I've always said, big schools play big schools.
Mid-majors play mid-majors.
Little schools play little schools.
This is a signal by Coach Wojo and the athletic department that they think we're for real!

I remember the angst and anger when Scheyer was attending GBN and the kid wouldn't seriously consider Illinois.

No, but my assumption is that we will face Louisville and one of Tennessee/Kansas. Tennessee/Kansas are both projected to be top 15 teams and Louisville will likely miss the postseason all together. Either we get matched up with Louisville in the first round or see them in the 2nd round after losing to Kansas/Tennessee. Of course we could beat Tennessee/Kansas in the first round, at which point I'm not worried about it anymore because that means we have a hella good team.

So when Mississippi Valley State schedules a non conference of 13 road games against big schools in a row....does that make them a big school? ;D

Or, we got a few easy rebounds and Tennessee/Kansas choked.
Don't you tell ME how to look at my glass!
I think Hoopaloop went to KState in addition to Purdue and Marquette. Hmm, someone else did grad school/worked for universities in those states. I wonder who he will cheer for.

Indiana, not Purdue. But, yes on KS.
Hoopaloop said he went to Kansas State and Purdue as part of his backstory. Which was very similar to Chicos who went to Indiana and Kansas.
Either way, this is really good news and I'm excited for the game. Other than the Henry year, Wojo hasn't been afraid of a challenging schedule.
