Just saw Space Balls maybe 2 weeks ago. On Sundance Channel, I think. It's no Blazing Saddles, but definitely has its moments.

Love Blazing Saddles but you have your hierarchy of Mel Brooks movies mixed up IMHO

Your opinion is wrong:
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Space Balls
Robin Hood Men in Tights
History of the World Part 1

Wrong, Spaceballs is first
Spaceballs is definitely first, and I think Robin Hood Men In Tights is a sleeper second. "The Night is Young, B flat" is my shower song (the wife loves it).

This is a good list. I could argue 3-5, but 1/2 are locked.

All I know is I'm glad I got my teenage kids into Mel Brooks. They have not seen Blazing or History yet but quote Robin Hood all the time.
They love Dave Chappele saying "Hey, Blinken!" followed by "Did you say Abe Lincoln?"

I watched Blazing Saddles again a few months back. I was surprised at how not-funny it was to me. Now, enough people love Blazing Saddles for me to acknowledge that it might just be one of those that doesn't catch my funny bone for some reason.
Young Frankenstein is easily the best Brooks movie ever, IMHO. Not only is it laugh-out-loud hilarious in many spots but it has a lot of subtle "you gotta think about it" humor. It also is beautifully filmed in B&W. Many critics consider it a top-5 all-time comedy. It is certainly one of my faves.
The list above doesn't include The Producers, which I would rank ahead of all the others (aside Young Frankenstein, obviously).
Robin Hood Men In Tights was the least-funny comedy I ever paid money to watch in a theater.
History of the World and Space Balls were fun.
Spaceballs is tops for me. Followed by Robin Hood Men in Tights. Id put Young Frankenstein and Blazing saddles in a tie for third.
Spaceballs is so overrated.

I'm glad TAMU got my reference. Sorry for the left turn everyone. Mods, feel free to break off the Mel Brooks discussion into its own thread in the superbar.
My rankings:
1. Spaceballs...if you're a huge Star Wars fan like me, the jokes are even funnier. I quote this movie all the time.
2. Men in Tights...I laugh incredibly hard everytime I watch it. I almost forget how funny it is until I rewatch it. I agree with those who think this one is underrated.
3. Young Frankenstein...the most cinematic. Love this movie, which should tell you how much I love the first two. There are probably some jokes I don't get, so I understand how others have it higher.
4. The Producers...both the original and the remake are very good. Same story but each cast gives it their own twist. Parts of this movie are right on par with the best of Brooks.
5. History of the World Part I...a notch below the top 4 but I really enjoy this movie.
6. Silent Movie...a fun flick but a notch below History.
Incomplete: Blazing Saddles...have not gotten around to watching it. I have only seen clips so I can't properly rank it.

Hopefully Spaceballs decides to grad transfer.
I think History of the World, Part 1 is severely underrated. You want a pee your pants funny, blasphemous scene, go back and watch the Last Supper scene. Now that's never not funny.
It's good to be the king.
Thanks for moving this here!
My favorite is space balls 2 the search for more money

Granted, this story is about a year old, but it would seem our only hope rests with Rick Moranis:

Timing a release for Summer 2020 (6 months after Episode IX release) is the window we should be hoping for.
1-2: Spaceballs & Blazing Saddles (order is interchangeable from day-to-day)
3: Men In Tights (Elwes & Chappelle might have been the next Wilder & Pryor)
4: Young Frankenstein
Everything else
There were only two funny scenes in RHMIT:
"That's Locksley!"
"Where?"
"There! The old man!"
"Are you sure? He looks like Mark Twain."
"Hello, abbott..."
"Good morrow, abbott..."
"HEY ABETTTTT!"
"I hate that guy!"

Both of those are quality but I love pretty much any scene with Blinken.
"This never would have happened if your father was alive."
"He's dead?"
"Yes"
"What about my mother?"
"Died of pneumonia"
"My brothers?"
"Killed by the plague"
"My Dog?"
"Run over by a carriage"
"My goldfish, Goldie?"
"Eaten by the cat"
"My cat?"
"Choked on the goldfish"
"Oh Master Robin! You lost your arms in battle!....But you've grown a nice pair of tits!"
"Blinkin, meet Ahchoo"
"A Jew? Here?"

Agree that Young Frankenstein is his best by far.
Blazing Saddles never did it for me. It had a few very funny moments, but looked at in its entirety, was not a very good movie.
His best IMO was The Elephant Man.

Oh, great. Hey mods.... someone hijacked Jockey's account again.
(The fact that he termed a movie that made fun of rednecks for almost two hours straight "not a very good movie" is a dead giveaway.)

I make fun of rednecks at least two hours every day - I don't need no stinkin' movie.

Your opinion is wrong:
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Space Balls
Robin Hood Men in Tights
History of the World Part 1
1. Young Frankenstein (Peter Boyle, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman and Madeline Kahn all knock it out of the park in supporting roles)
2. Blazing Saddles
3. High Anxiety (For some reason nobody has seen this- funny spoof of Hitchcock movie - Cloris Leachman, Harvey Korman and Madeline Kahn just make me laugh)
4-6. History of the World Part 1, The Producers, Spaceballs (put 'em in whatever order you want. All good, none outstanding as far as I can tell)
7. Robin Hood, Men in Tights - above average
8. To Be or Not to Be - Eh
9-11 Silent Movie, Life Stinks, Dracula: Dead and Loving It (Blecch)
Young Frankenstein probably on top.
Silent Movie underrated here.
No mention of The Twelve Chairs? Not typical Mel Brooks but a funny movie.

Speaking of Madeline Kahn knocking it out of the park, in my younger years, I always thought
Clue was a Mel Brooks movie. Had it been, it would have been right behind Blazing Saddles on my list.
Who knows... maybe Mel Brooks will sign on to direct the remake with Ryan Reynolds (https://variety.com/2018/film/news/ryan-reynolds-clue-movie-fox-1202672829/).
