MU #8 vs Louisville #1 In Louisville ESPN2 11am
Early, but UL looks a lot more athletic and a lot bigger.
So much for keeping the crowd out of it from the start
Getting run early. UL much taller than MU. Carolyn with a time out to regroup.
Louisville looks like a 1 seed
Just tuned in and 12 down. Seems like quite a crowd for the Cardinals.
Wow! What a pass

Wow! What a pass
Yes. That was one of the nicest passes I've ever seen at any level.
As a master of understatement, this is not trending well. Like 2003 MU men vs Kansas not well
The 6-5 start was nice. Everything since, not so much...

Take that WC!
Hiedeman is a stellar passer. Too bad were getting run out of the building.
If they played a box and 1 and have the 1 stand at the top of the charge circle under the basket they could draw a charge on every play.
I'm mostly kidding
That got out of hand quickly.
Cards shooting 80%. At this rate, they could top that UCONN rout yesterday. MU needs to sloooooow it down.
Woo hoo - shot clock violation - that's one way to keep them from scoring :)
Just got back from mass. Not looking good. But maybe I can help change the game, we got this!
I think that is the most pissed off I have seen a coach whose team was up by 20 this early in a game
Is this the latest that both the men AND women are playing in post-season tournaments in the same season? Looking for anything....
I think my hope at this point is this motivates them next season especially in their non-conference schedule. They need to pick up some good non-conference wins next season to get a much better seed in the NCAA Tourney.

In 2008 the men won their first round game before losing to Stanford in the NCAAs and the women won the WNIT.
The Louisville coach needs to drink less coffee
Women versus Tweens...

He got some cool points from me when he offered to buy beer for fans :)

Thanks. I forgot about their NIT run.

They made a nice run that year winning three games on the road to win it all. Kieger was on the Marquette staff that year before moving on to Miami.
Glad to see a little better performance now.

Yeah it's nice to see them not give up.
Allazia Blockton has set a single season scoring record at MU (previous record was 635 and she had 614 coming into this game) and is within 200 points of Krystal Ellis's MU scoring record of 1,940 points. She should get that during non-conference play next season assuming she stays healthy of course.
nice run so far
At this point, I'd just like to see them beat the spread
I thought teams can't play on their home floor? Does that rule only apply for the men's tournament or did the NCAA change it?

Yep men's
Coulda cut it to 15. Got hacked, no call.
This team always plays hard. They need more height and athletic depth. McCoy would have helped balance the team.
UL like Nova men really move the ball by passing to create space. MU over relies on the dribble drive with a four guard line up, and a team like UL or DePaul can stop this.

Yeah that was a huge no call. It clearly looked like a foul.
Ladies were on a roll that third quarter. Too bad they had to stop play to change to the fourth quarter. Kinda stopped their momentum.
They're going to lose, and lose badly, but Coach Kieger deserves credit for rallying this team at halftime.
Allazia Blockton is probably the best women's player Marquette has ever seen.
Heckuva large crowd there.

Agreed a low post threat would help.

Blockton set a career high today and broke Hiedeman's record for points in an NCAA Tourney game with her 34 points. She also passed 2 people on the all-time scoring list today and will obliterate the current record of 1,940 points if she can stay healthy. She also has the junior record for scoring in a season and the most points in a season overall. And she's in the record book for many other things too I'm sure.

I should have added to my original post "...and it's not even close"

I'm dating myself but Kristen Maskala in the early 90's was quite the player at Marquette. Blockton just broke her record for most points in a season of 635. Maskala sat at #4 on the scoring list before Blockton passed her today and that was with only three years at Marquette - she played one season at DePaul before transferring.

I'm no doctor....but I'd be shocked if McCoy ever plays college basketball.

Yeah I'm not sure what the chances are she'll be able to play again.
