I'm a west coaster - if u guys are up tune in for Bill's stand up just killing the Trojans any chance he gets.
Double OT.
Wake up it's march madness!
Walton - "this is NIT basketball!"
He's a joke.
And UCLA lost in the play in games.
I find Walton very entertaining...to a point. The first few games I watched, I found him hilarious. As I watched more, he kept spinning the same eccentric tales over and over.
Now I like watching him for a game or two a season. I still find him hilarious to a point, but would not want to listen to him regularly.

I love Walton. I watch every game he does. I find him very entertaining!
Gooo
I am with you. I find Walton to be entertaining for a game or two a season. I really, really respected his talent on the court, but disliked him as a person when I was younger. Now that I am softer, kinder soul I have learned to like him across the board. In addition, big fan of his son and hope he wins big with the Lakers. Luke is a weird dude as well, and I like that.
Walton's got a schtick.
He's kind of The Big Lebowski of analysts.
As long as one realizes that, IMHO, he's fun in small doses.
Too much Walton is tough on the ears, though.
I hear and see him regularly when out at the western abode. I find him entertaining in those small doses and sincerely believe it's all part of the act.
I find the Cre-tin guy to be 1000 times more annoying. And for the record probably because I'm at most of the BMO BC games he calls so don't have to hear him too often, I actually like 'hashtag Dickie'. Access denied! ;D

For me, a small dose of Walton is about 5 minutes. I haven't been able to make it through so much as a single half of a game that he's announcing in years. Can't stand to listen to the guy. If his "I'm a know-it-all blowhard who loves to hear himself talk" persona is a shtick, then I find it even more perplexing and annoying. I know he's smart and loves the game. That should be enough.
Think I'd rather listen to Andrew Dice Clay call a UCLA game.
Or how about Larry the Cable Guy calling college basketball? Either one is funnier than Walton. (And I don't think either of them are funny in the first place.)

+ 1,000,000
He pretty much ruined an exciting game last night.

Dice would be a great announcer !
Gus Johnson: OH BABY! RISE AND FIRE!
Dice: I knew that guy once, he had his tongue in a chick's ais. Now he's at the rim. OH!
I always got the impression Walton thinks viewers tune in to listen to him, rather than the to watch the two teams actually competing on the court.
Walton is such a shill for the Pac-12, or "the conference of champions." If one were to take a drink every time he says that they'd have alcohol poisoning by halftime. He also spent the entire Pac-12 tournament advocating for getting rid of automatic bids because the Pac-12 deserves at least 9 bids every year.
Love him during NBA telecasts but during Pac-12? No thank you.

How many championships does the PAC 12 have?

How many championships does the PAC 12 have?
15. More than any other conference.
Of course, 11 of those are UCLA.
3 of the other 4 occurred before 1960.
And 13 of them occurred before Marquette's championship.
And the last one occurred in 97.
So really the PAC 12 is the conference of John Wooden. Outside that it is very meh.

It's not just basketball but all sports which is why the Pac-12 is the Conference of Champions. Well - Stanford is the School of Champions.

Actually they have 502, 215 more than the next closest conference.
Conference of Champions! Dave, right? ;D

when you have 36 varsity teams that's not very difficult to do.

Actually, it is pretty difficult. Other than the Pac-12 (which dominates the top of the chart with Stanford, UCLA, USC, ASU and California all in the top 12), the Big 10 has had the most high-major championships, with PSU, Michigan and tOSU being most successful. Here's how they stack up to Stanford in average # of titles for each program:
Stanford has 36 varsity teams and 115 NCAA titles. (Ave.
3.2 per program)
Penn State has 31 varsity teams and 49 NCAA titles. (Ave.
1.6 per program)
Michigan has 27 varsity teams and 36 NCAA titles. (Ave.
1.5 per program)
tOSU has 35 varsity teams, and 30 NCAA titles. (Ave.
1.2 per program)
So it isn't just the number of varsity sports...it's the number of highly successful varsity sports.
And the best ratios toward the top of the list? A couple of other Pac-12 schools:
UCLA with 22 varsity teams and 114 NCAA titles (Ave
5.2 per program)
USC with 21 varsity teams and 104 NCAA titles (Ave
5 per program)
So as much as I get tired of hearing Bill repeat it, the Pac-12 has a pretty solid hold as the "Conference of Champions."
I agree with"Marcus92" about Walton. But I watched him last night and as USC brought the ball up court training by 3 with seconds left he was yelling for its opponent to foul the ball dribbler b/4 he gets to 3 point range. If they follow his advice they win, but they didn't, and lost as USC hit a 3 as the buzzer sounded, and won in the second overtime. A terrible coaching error.

There was 14 seconds left when he was calling for them to foul. No coach is fouling up 3 with 14 seconds left. He made the 3 with 9 seconds left in the game.
If you are going to foul, you foul under 5 seconds. It never got to that point.
Walton was wrong.
