What was the attendance yesterday 18,906? My buddy and I were just wondering what the largest attendance was in the BC? He thinks we had a 19,000 person game (was that the UConn game?)
I think we have been over 19,000. At the risk of sounding like Murf, there were a decent amount of empty seats upstairs in the corner adjacent to the student section. That was near where it seemed many of the ND fans were located. I think I read that some tickets went on sale again on Friday. Maybe ND returned some in those sections.
It was a great crowd. Lots of energy, and a fun environment.
I believe we've been over 19,000 twice....for ND two years ago and for WI last year...which set the record.
The wiki shows three games over 19,000:

According to the Wiki, yesterday's crowd wouldn't even be in the top 10 attendance counts at the BC for an MU game:
Rank Date Opponent Attendance
1. March 3, 2007 Pittsburgh 19,021
2. December 9, 2006 Wisconsin 19,020
3. February 18, 2006 Pittsburgh 19,007
4. February 3, 2007 Providence 18,920
5. February 17, 2007 Louisville 18,904
6. January 20, 2006 Notre Dame 18,874
7. February 15, 2003 Louisville 18,850
8. March 1, 2003 Cincinnati 18,790
9. March 1, 2002 DePaul 18,788

Umm.....18,906 would be the 5th largest attendance.
oh, whoops, i misread...thought it was 18,096
Not unless some people were dressed as empty seats.
great crowd yesterday and extremely loud... we have home games against pitt and gtown and i would guess that both of those will be over 19,000
Yeah, I was actually pretty disappointed by the crowd. The student section was surprisingly, shockingly not full at all. Easily 1000 empties right there. Did I miss something? If you bought student tickets, why in the hell wouldn't you show up for ND? Even if you're only going to go to 3 games, this is one of those you go to.
Scattered around, there had to be another couple thousand empties. Even my group of 35, had 8 no-shows. I had to sell my tickets "on consignment" because no one took them here, and they wouldn't buy them because "demand was low due to the GB game."
Might be the weakest-attended sell-out at the Bradley Center.
I was shocked how many tix were available on the street below cost. I imagine people bought extras to sell and the Packer game hurt them. There were definitely rows of seats empty around the BC.
The problem is that the dorms were not open until Sunday. So, even if TC said the students were back; well, not quite..... But, still an awesome crowd...!!

Classic res life...why no Saturday night? Did the RAs need one more night of freedom, partying at Brew Bayou or Ziggies? I love how Res Life makes a federal matter of everything.

What? That might be the weakest stereotype I have ever heard. I have no affiliation with Residence Life, but I just don't see how saying when the dorms open is making something a "federal matter." Thats pretty rediculous
He's talking about Overnight Guests, I believe.
They also don't allow guests the weekend of Halloween, the weekend before Thanksgiving, the weekend before Spring Break, or Finals Week.
No overnight guests of the opposite sex, ever. Unless they're your family members.
Even DePaul allows overnight guests of the opposite sex.
Actually the dorms were opened up Saturday morning so they could get back for the game.

have you ever lived in an MU dorm? if so then you know how the RA's are a joke and think they're FBI agents during martial law. res life at MU runs an excellent system and provides many services for students, but more often than not they take themselves too seriously and definitely win the award for the biggest hardasses on campus

TONS of empty seats up in the corners. I mean hundreds, if not thousands of them. There is no way that was a sell out. There's no way there were that many no-shows for Marquette vs. ND. The Green Bay game couldn't have been that big of a deal.

love MU, but in WI, we're (maybe, MAYBE) 3rd on the totem pole.

Very True maningold. Marquette most likely bought up tickets to save face, to show a strong fan support of the rivalry, or it is just their practice to buy up the tickets to have extras for who knows what (alum's coming in, donors, etc...)
I don't believe MU bought tickets to "save face." I believe the game was probably close to a sellout, but there were just a couple thousand no-shows. And maybe it was because it was a one-sided game, but I didn't think it was that great of a crowd -- enthusiasm wise.
For all the people who have criticized the scheduling of UWM, by the way, I'd say the ND game had more people in attendance...but not by much. And Turner's was much more crowded before the UWM game than the ND game, but that could be because of the start time. I was not there after the game.
I agree that the student section was not as full as it could have been, but here's why I think. Dorms opened up at 9am. I'm assuming that for most people it's about an hour's drive or more, and to get there at exactly 9 AM means you need to be up bright and early at 8am. How many students do you think actually got there at AM? My bet is not many, because who's parents are going to drive them up that early? Most were probably in at around 11 or 12. Then you have to fight to grab a cart and an elevator if you're bringing back stuff into the dorms. Of course you have to say goodbye to the parents, and by the time that's all done maybe its just easier to sit in your room and watch the game with some roomates. Rather than hike down to the BC and get stuck in the 400's. That's just my assumption, but I really thought there was great energy, especially when we were hitting our threes or scrambling for lose balls.
Since MU announced it was a sell out months ago, there's zero chance it wasn't, or that they bought tickets to make it one.
While the Packer game is a giant deal, I just don't know why people would pass up a huge game and not do both. You could easily have seen 90%+ of the MU game, then make it back to watch the kick-off. Instead, you flush your tickets? Doesn't make sense.
Living in SEC country, one thing I love about my years at Marquette (83-87) was that the basketball players were truly kind, not eclipsed by 60 football players. I now live 2 miles from Auburn's campus, and watch their games from the 45-yard line behind the player's parents, but then can completely focus on Marquette basketball once it starts up.
Ironically though, two of Marquette's biggest wins have been in the shadow of football. The 15-point drubbing of UConn two years ago that served notice that we would not be also-rans in the Big East was overlooked by many across the country because it was on the same night at the BCS football championshiop. Now we beat Notre Dame (#27 in the AP coming in) by the biggest margin in school history, and we get eclipsed again by Brett Favre's incredible run!

Unless you have both Packers and MU season tickets.
True, but extremely rare. How many Milwaukee-package people got round 1 playoff tickets .. and had MU tickets? Can't be more than 100 people that fit in that group.

I honestly have no idea what kind of RA's you have had or what buildings you've been in, but having been an RA for a year and a half at Carpenter, I can honestly say that RA's who think they are FBI agents and go powertripping are the vast minority. I would rarely, if ever, go looking for people to get in trouble, but if you are blatant with your attempts to break the rules, you are probably going to get caught. There is a lot more stuff that goes on and goes unpunished than the stuff that actually gets disciplined, believe me.

WOW.
I've never seen somebody bitter about Res Life.
What did they ever do to you?
I don't think I ever had any run-ins with Res-life, either positive or negative. We pretty much did what we wanted... and if what we wanted was outside of the rules, we did it quietly.
Some of the "rules" were kind of lame, but they are really just looking out for student safety... so like I said, we just broke the rules quietly and never had a problem.

one time i had a friend checked in and I walked outside to hang out with a girl who was having a smoke and then walked back in. I got in trouble for not having my guest with me and had my guest privalges taken away for the rest of the symester. Which i thought was a huge over-reaction but the hilarious part was the letter i got from the hall director. It said that he hoped my punishment "would change my life for the better." Are you f'ing serious? CHnage my life for the better? I highlighted the line and posted the letter on my door.
I was caught for "being in the presence of alcohol." I received a letter from the Hall Director telling me that "being in the presence is just as bad as consumption of alcohol." My RA had a Haiku board outside his door, so I wrote the following:
QuoteGot letter today
Can't be around alcohol
Guess no church for me
The Haiku board was removed shortly afterward on order of the Hall Director.
RAs usually aren't dicks, they're more like overgrown, eager-beaver Boy Scouts

Solid generalization of RAs. I couldn't put it any better myself. I also can't stand ResLife, they really need to loosen up their reigns. Many of the RAs were intrusive and would enter rooms frequently in my experience.
The room next to me was forcibly entered because they heard a party. They had to forcibly enter because no one would open the door. What they found was a single resident taking a shower with the stereo on right next to the door. That Hall Director, RAs, and DPS officers had to feel like absolute Asshats.
it probably was a sell out. But based on the looks of the arena probably 2000 or so decided to stay home and watch it on TV and watch the Packers game too. Would not be surprised is alot of the no shows were in Lambeau. I have two friends ( 4tix) that bailed on Mu and Went to the Packers game. The crowd was good but there were 1000+ no shows botoom line, the corners were top 10 rows empty. Up 25 with 10 minutes to go the mass exodus began.
