One down. At least one more to go. Lucky to get to play tomorrow. Wow, did we play not to lose instead of to win.
1. Andy. Opened it up in the first half. Big shots to put us back up under the 5 minute mark.
2. Sacar. Nice D on Strus until he went out with 4 fouls. Hit some big shots too.
3. Matty. If he could and would shoot underneath, he'd be SOTG. good D though.
4. Sam. Big second half.
Let's get another tomorrow. Need Markus to play well. Go Warriors!
Definitely Rowdy. Sacar for the honorable mention. Don't think anyone else is a candidate tonight.
Anim
Sacar. He held Strus and when Sacar went outwith four fouls, Strus went crazy. He also has 14 points.
Rows was great but some terrible turnovers almost costing the game and he just admitted it in interview.
Sacar
Let's just vote based on the first half. Second half was rough. It's got to be Rowsey. Huge first half, big part of why we had a lead going into halftime.
Sacar !
The refs for giving people 2 and a half hours of..."entertainment."
Rowsey. I screamed at him less than other guys.
I screamed at him plenty, though.
Andrew Rowsey
Sacar "can you find me" Anim
Rowsey
Andrew Rowsey
Honorable Mention Matt Heldt.
Max Strus. Lord he was unstoppable down the stretch. Until that too much time to shoot three at the end.
Seriously, though, Anim. As good as Rowsey was early, efficiency and defense puts Sacar over the top for me.
Rowsey. Also good with arguments for Sacar due good defense and an efficient 14.
1. Rowsey
2. Anim
3. Sam
4. Matt

Sacar hit some tough "where did that come from" jumpers in the 2nd half. But his 4 fouls really changed the way he had to play for the last 8 or 9 minutes. He's usually a quiet but strong influence on D, but I'm not sure he had his best game tonight. A lot of that was just Strus showing up big in the second half, though.
Sacar showed good maturity tonight that we'll need to rely on next year. But I think we don't win without Rowey.
Rowsey. Leader in points, rebounds, and assists. No question.
There were no studs in this game. Not in a MU jersey anyway.
I gotta go with Rowsey. But Matty's darn good game and Sacar's very solid effort on both ends of the floor deserve mention.

I'd have no argument with Rowsey. He was the reason we built the first half lead that allowed us to hold on. And frankly, his effort on the defensive end was improved, especially in the first half.
Anim would still be my pick, but I'm just happy to be playing tomorrow.

This. Flip a coin between sacar and Rowsey. I have no idea why Matt was so hesitant to go up strong when he got the ball under the basket so many times. That disqualifies him imo.
Didn't put up huge numbers, but Matt played one of his best games of the season: 33 minutes (we needed him on the court for each and every one), 6 points on 3-3 shooting, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist, 0 turnovers. I'd take that from him every night.

We've learned tonight it was done in order to get the assist.
Close.
I'll go with Sacar.
In defense of Matt, he knows he's usually the fifth offensive option on the court. Even 3-footers aren't always gimmes. If he doesn't take a shot and passes it out, at least he keeps the possession alive. That's far less costly to the team than a turnover.
Changing my meaningless vote to Sacar. Rowsey's late turnover and defensive lapse when he didn't switch could have cost us a chance at the tournament.
Plus, it'll motivate Andrew to win it tomorrow.

Agree.
How people can pick Rowsey is beyond me. In the last few seconds he made 2 major mistakes.
Turned the ball over and then left Strus wide open for the game winner. That alone disqualifies him.

Led the team in points, rebounds, and assists.
As for those two plays, Rowsey was hacked repeatedly but no call. And I believe the defensive lapse was on Anim.

The lapse was on Rowsey, he admitted as much in the postgame interview. Said if Sacar called pick, he was supposed to switch. Sacar called out the pick, but the screener slipped and Rowsey didn't switch because he didn't feel the pick.
Sacar. Huge game on both ends out of nowhere when we needed it most

You're actually wrong on both counts, he wasn't hacked even once and the lapse was on him. Sacar for SOTG.
Andrew was our key. His age and maturity shows. What happened to Markus? He was MIA. Hope he shows up tonight against V.

He was absolutely hacked. The defensive lapse I might be wrong. Rowdy didn't switch but I don't think Sacar should have called for the switch
Sacar, but very close for Rowsey

Maddening isn't it, then the 3's start coming. Like the line in the song "It's like breathing In and Out."

I guess I'd have to see the reply again, but when they showed it last night it didn't appear that he was fouled at all. He tried dribbling through guys and simply lost it in traffic from what I saw.
But, I'm not going to watch it again as I am purging that piece of crap from the DVR.

There was a foul there but it was light. Wouldn't have been mad there. It was when he caught the ball and started his dribble that he was getting hacked badly

Ah, ok, fair enough, I wasn't thinking of the initial inbounds.

you might have me there, didn't notice that so assuming you are right, I was concentrating on when he dribbled through the traffic, live, I thought he was fouled, astounded the replay showed no fouls.

If you're a 6'10 D1 basketball player, a 3 footer is a gimme. Yes, Matt has missed some bunnies, but I don't think a few misses should make him look to pass first when he's close to the hoop. The first bucket of the game last night was a nice little hook from Matt. He's gotten better on offense even if he's still the last option for us. If he were more assertive near the hoop, I think he could average another 6 points a game pretty easily with the touches he gets.
With only a few hours left before gametime - had to get one up. Went with Sacar - despite a very "meh" line, last nights game was surprisingly not won by our offense. So, we essentially have our first Defensive Stud Of The Game all year...

Dilly dilly!
Good for him!
I remember when he first committed, I was wondering who was going to be the first to call him Suck-car in a game thread. Hasn't happened so far as I have noticed, and that's a testament to him (certainly not to Scoopers).

I hate to disagree with you, TAMU, as Rowsey is by far my favorite player on this team.
When Markus refuses to join in the game, it really is up to Rows to do more. 95% of college players would love a stat line like he had last night, but I just feel he made too many mistakes in the 2nd half including the near fatal ones.
Hey guys and gals.
A} Rowsey was hacked
B} he had about a second and a half to get over the time line due to the double team's on cain and Howard. What did you want him to do?

good, it was Anim. Over 70% eFG% (6 of 9 with one made three) from your best on ball defender seems like the pick to me.

Don't let facts get in the way of the silly Rowsey-hate some ill-informed fans here have. We are a train wreck of a team this year without Andrew. Think some are going to be VERY disappointed with next year if we can't land a really good grad transfer PG or Hagans.
As for SOTG, Sacar is worthy too. Heldt played a really nice game as well too.
