I'm at 30,000 feet right now - flew from Atlanta to about the New Jersey line and then Delta sent the flight back to Atlanta. Connecting people from Xavier and Creighton on the fight too, though obviously they have another day.
This New York storm warning is on until Thursday at 4 p.m. with up to a foot of snow last I saw.
I don't know how many other DePaul and Marquette fans might not make it in tonight, or if people could still be unable to land for tomorrow's games for all 8 remaining schools.
It kills me to miss it, but Marquette has been fine away from home (DePaul an exception, but that was kind of a home game) so maybe it plays to our advantage.
Unfortunately if we do win, I can't believe the Nova fans will have an problem getting in from Philadelphia.
6 of the 12 depaul fans wont make it in.
good point :-)
I think the storm warning is until 4AM.
My flight is tomorrow at 7am (banked on us being 6th or higher back in December). Hopefully I get out, but I don't think there should be a problem. Flying United.
Might look like a first round B1G game.
Not much time left for changes, but I'll bet the trains are running from DC, Baltimore and Philly. If they drop you there, catch one of those and you can be there in as little as 1 1/2 - 3 hrs. Shift to one of those cities.

I rarely fly so this may be a dumb question, but can't they divert you somewhere near New York so you can bus it or take a shorter flight once it clears?

It is much easier for the plane to return to Atlanta and re-book everyone. Let's say they could land in Philadelphia. Do they have a gate available? How do they get people to NY or their final destination if they are all snowed in? Do they want the PR nightmare of 100s of complaining passengers who are now stuck in a different airport?
MSG will be empty tonight. Very few locals will go out tonight. The ACC Tourney was sparse today.
All Delta flights from MKE to NYC were canceled today save one, which was diverted to Syracuse. They will have zero chance of coming here.
I rebooked my group of 4 to come to NYC last nite, fortunately. Our original flights from MKE and Orlando were diverted and then canceled.
Trains are running but schedules reduced significantly.
Depaul might feel like it's a home game.

If this was 1984 would be a hell of a doubleheader snow or no snow.
Was on that flight that diverted to Syracuse. Along with Homer. Lots of MU fans renting cars. My son and I are about 2 hours out of NYC. hope to get there by tipoff

Good news is the traffic situation in downtown is favorable. My cab driver said its a ghost town. Only took us 15 min. to get from WTC Memorial to Time Square.
Sorry all you who are diverted....hope the airlines can get you there for when we beat Nova 😁.....and Xavier in the final 😁😁
But what does Homer do? Syracuse to NYC. I guess he could make it.

Good luck and be safe!
We got this.
He said they had the Butler guy lined up as a sub if he doesn't make it

I was on the flight they detoured to Syracuse. With a group of MU fans currently on the Amtrak in upstate NY slowly making our way to Penn Station. Our ETA should be right around 10pm so we are hoping for an overtime gam e in the St Johns GTown game
What I couldn't understand is that we were schedule for a 615am flight this morning that was canceled when the weather wasnt very bad and they pushed us to a 930am flight just in time for the weather to turn to crap in NYC. And to top it off our pilots were late to the gate so we ended up leaving MKE late for that flight as well.

Mostly true about locals although those that live in Manhattan should have no problem getting to the Garden. Unfortunately Porky won't be one of them due to recently moving from the city to the burbs and not heading into the city for work today. Was looking forward to attending this evening but will have to wait until tomorrow.

Flying is incredibly frustrating because airlines have trimmed any wiggle room out of their staffing, equipment, etc., so there could have been a whole host of reasons why the 6:30 was canceled. Even if they say weather, ya never know.
The 6:15 flights were cancelled because the plane couldn't get in. That's what Delta told us

Bummer. Just another example of trimming so much fat. It's been many years now, but I was once on a flight where the inbound plane didn't make it so they just loaded us onto another one. Pretty much unheard of today, unless maybe it's a high dollar international flight....
Finally got out of NYC today. Flights were cancelled 3 times but I got last remaining flight out. Coming back Friday, so hopefully our guys can make it to Friday night. Will attend Friday and Saturday if they get that far.

True - we had people who were trying Nashville to NY come in right after us to ATL. It is there hub so gives them more options for alternate plans. I would have been happy to land somewhere in the Northeast and take my chances with a rental.
Great crowd for SJU and Gtown.
Got to say, MSG still has a nice crowd.
That Owens dunk...WOW!
St John's are the homies. The crowd should shuffle out after game one.
Did the MU cheerleaders and Eagle's flight get canceled? Don't see them in the baseline.
Auburn - enjoying(?) the game from Gulf Shores AL w DePaul friend. Boys weekend.

Yep, band too. They're on a bus somewhere in Ohio. Gonna stay in a hotel tonight and continue on (or go home) tomorrow.
Just drive home they've tanked.
