In the greater scheme of things MU has done a good job of getting the most out of its investment in athletics in general and basketball in particular.
I attended an event tonight that really put things in perspective . A traditional blue blood was in town giving a presentation . They are seeking to raise $500 million for athletics. That is an incredible number and roughly equal to MU's entire endowment.
Why not tell us who it is?
It doesn't sound like they are trying to raise this money in secret.

I imagine he signed a NDA so he can't tell us...
Think he's referencing UNC:

Not a big secret if I could find this online in under a minute.

Another case of I should have used teal.
Just MUFINY throwing around his "connected" credentials. Nothing to see here.
Unless he wants to expound on UNC's body language.

What was the neck quality of the school's reps?
The thread title is a misnomer. It's trying to draw a comparison between a state school with conservatively speaking hundreds of thousands more alums, a larger student base, and more student athletes with completely disparate needs to Marquette. This is like comparing apples to orangutans. No relevance to a school like Marquette.
Does anyone know how much MU has raised/spent in the last 5-10 years on campus improvements? It seems like we've had some kind of large-scale project going on ever since the new law school construction began. For a small school in a fairly contained geographic area, it seems like we've poured a ton of money into the campus recently. Maybe not blue blood money, but still pretty significant sums.
It's too bad, $500 mil could go a long way towards developing real school classes, if they put some emphasis there.

I wouldn't call that the anatomy of anything, at least as it relates to Marquette. If I were a UNC alum looking at an athletic program with a major academic scandal and a football team that just went 3-9 I'd probably find somewhere else to send my money.

$500 million for athletics? Wow. That tells you where priorities are in the southeast. And to think in another thread, someone else thought I was way off base to think that boosters would pay every player (not just stars)a huge 'endorsement' deal if the NCAA allowed players to profit from their likeness. The reason the NCAA rule book is so big and confusing is because of the ACC, SEC and BIG XII. These schools and boosters are crazy.
