Are we Optimists/Pessimists (Realists).
What do you think?
Also if we would lose the first one...I wonder if we would make it? Although I think that's a hypothetical.
Mods, feel free to delete my poll asking the same question
Well, I had to put 2-1 because with the Seton Hall win and much of the bubble playing well we may well need 2. Playing Nova on tired legs when they are rested actually seems pretty tough for a shooting team like us. Last time that happened with carlino we looked awesome first round and seems like Nova beat us by 50
I say 1-1 and we miss out. DePaul loss will haunt them, would have been 10-8, different BE seed, along with great winning streak that committee likes to see.

I voted the same, reasoned the same.
I know that we only play the games we have in front of us, but I would trade DePaul-Nova for Providence, Butler, Seton Hall, or Creighton in the first round. In that case 1-1 is enough. I think we need 2 OR we need other bubble teams to go down in their own first games to bad teams.

Beatin' Dapal is know given, aina?
1-1, and in because of Wojo's Dook ties and his wholesome persona.
It's a tight race!

I think tired legs show up the third game. I rather play Villanova without having opening game jitters. This is still a very young team. We could easily of lost to Providence, because of opening game jitters. We could lose to DePaul, However if we were going to lose to DePaul we were not beating any other team.
I did not vote in the poll, because 1-1 means nothing without knowing what the other teams do. Losing to Villanova does not hurt as much if the other bubble teams are also dropping their first round games.
1-1 and in...cuz I'm an optimist.
Someone posted that we were one win out of third place in the Big East and I had to go check the standings to see if that was true or not. It was. I find it hard to believe that a team that is one win out of third place in the Big East is not a lock for the tournament, but alas that seems to be the position we are in this year. Unless we beat 'Nova, I don't think we are in...and to do that we have to first beat DePaul.
DaPal = bad match-up, hey?

In games that started at 1:00 PM or earlier, MU is 1-5. With the 1 being Bucky, just to show how pitifully bad they were this year.
Luckily, MU has the evening bracket in the BET.
#justwinbaby
Out now, and beating a bad team does nothing to improve that. We never show up to play in NYC, so most likely we labor through DePaul and get destroyed by Nova.
We'll be a lock for the NIT at least. Looks like the BC is pretty open for potential games. We're good enough to make a run.

And in Bracket Matrix, we are the third team out, behind Washington and UCLA. A DePaul win is nothing impressive, but we are close enough that we could get in simply if a few teams ahead of us lose.

See no way that Washington should be ahead of us...their resume is awful. Alabama, also, seems to be overvalued.
Think we stand decent chance to get in with a 1-1 Big East tourney performance...but I know I'd be nervous as can be come the bracket reveal.
Still would have preferred a Providence matchup, as I think that would have ultimately given us a legit chance at getting in the dance with just that one win.
Play in game.......

It has now. Still 3rd team out behind Louisville and Syracuse, with Alabama, Texas, Baylor, and UCLA playing in Dayton.
I like bracketmatrix for the "wisdom of the crowd" type feel, but the reality is a lot of the brackets update infrequently and some of them have useless information that skews the scores.

I think a good deep run or even winning the NIT would be better than going 1 and done or even 1-1 in the NCAA for THIS YEARS team.
Wrong, hey?

While I vehemently disagree with this, I do hope that Marquette nation supports the guys fully in any NIT run that might be in our future. We haven't enjoyed much post season play in recent years. Let's all enjoy the ride.

Yep, but let's hope our guys can avoid the alternative in the meantime.

Not sure what makes it awful. Wins over Kansas and Arizona are more impressive than anything on our resume.

Their overall SOS is 78th. Ours is 15th. Arizona is a nice name, but in reality, they are the equivalent of Creighton per Pomeroy. Washington didn't have to play AZ on the road either. Pac 12 as a league is rated 6th toughest...with big fall off in difficulty between 5th and 6th rated conferences. Big East is 3rd. There is not one Pac 12 team in the Top 25 of Pomeroy.

Yep. And they will almost assuredly be out after getting run out of the gym at home against Oregon last night. They are 97th in Pomeroy's rankings. I'd assume that would be by far the lowest Kenpom ranking to receive an at large.

I think it might be better for the development of next year's team, but I'll take that NCAA berth over the NIT bid without question.

It is truly embarrassing how many people get paid to write about college basketball (or any sport really) that have no idea what they're talking about.

*face palm*
I think, given discussions on the bubble thread, that beating Depaul gets us into a play-in game. Then we can pull a VCU...at least, that's the dream.

85-85. This one's headed to OT. We need an NIT poll.
