Let's talk about the freshmen. All outside the top 100. All have had to play big minutes. There have been bad games, to be sure. And I sincerely hope Cain and Elliot put on some muscle so that they can hold on to the ball next year. But they have all worked hard on defense. They have all scored timely baskets. IMO, they have put to rest the notion that Wojo can't develop players, as anyone who has paid attention can clearly see that they have gotten better as the season has gone on. I don't know if any of them are ever going to be superstars. But they are the kind of class that a program needs. All glue guys who fill a need and play without fear. Well done, young men.

Guys who can play defense at the Big East level are worth their weight in Gold. When Greg's thumb is fully healed we will be seeing a very impactful player.
Nicely stated, tower.
IMO Cain and elliot are better finishers and stronger with the ball than both JJJ and Vander were as freshman. Not an indicator of what they will be but certainly of what they can be.
On the Dodd's board, Silver Warrior showed that Elliott's numbers compare well to Vander's freshman numbers.
Lots of upside for this class. These kids all play hard and seem to like playing defense, a lot like the 3 amigos from the class of 09. I can't wait to see these guys in a few years.
Hmm..
Lots of people have said wojo hasn't demonstrated an ability to develop talent.
Questionable post

Cain will be a stud
Here's another thing to add. We know that Elliott and Cain are fast friends. We also know that Markus is super tight with the Hausers. These guys all like each other and that bodes well for them all wanting to play ball together for as long as possible. All good.
With the addition of Morrow, Joey Hauser and a potential Top Tier grad point guard, the competition for playing time is going to be very interesting. Elliott and Cain have both proved they can produce some quality BE minutes, and Theo is sort of a work in progress with potential. Wojo has his players now all lined up, and again it should be very interesting come the fall.
Look at the improvement of the 3 freshmen Cain, Elliott and Theo.
How about the steps Sam has taken in the last 18 months.
Matt Heldt anyone?
Sacar has shown growth too and that redshirt year really helped him.
Kudos to the staff for making these kids better.
Agree with wverything but none of it matters unless we have a capable point guard and Howard is the farthest thing from that. Rowseys shot making is huge but his ability to run the team cannot be understated.
Im guessing the "new" in the title is tongue in cheek?

Maybe it's a good problem to have but something has to give. I'm tempted to start a poll: "whose most likely to be gone next year"....but that's a bit negative.
I just don't know the personalities, pressures, personal goals of these guys. Who is apt to look for minutes elsewhere?
I want all the frosh to stay. Sacar to stay. Morrow, bailey to join in. Heldt to finish, and even Froling to feel like he has a role to play. And of course Sam and Markus to own it and lead us.
But where will the minutes come from.

And this analysis
There was a point with about 6 minutes left in the second half when we had three freshman in the game and I was totally fine with it. Great growth as the year has progressed
Love all 3.
Cain definitely has the highest ceiling in my opinion. He has potential to be the one of the guys as a upperclassman.
I think Greg will always be quality and if the healthy thumb and added muscle helps him handle the ball, will be fun.
Theo is the most fun to think about what he can be as a Junior and Senior. He's got the BE body no doubt. Big reason weve kept Delgado in check this year. Would love if he turned into a X type big man Reynolds/Farr and even Jones.
I love the freshman class. It's definitely the most "big east" class Wojo has recruited. Really hoping they stay together four years
Cain is going to be whatever he wants to be. He can be a role player - an expanded version of what he is this year. Or he can be one of the big boys, and as soon as next season. I've said it before: he can be a better version of JJJ, for as good as he was at the end.

Yeah, happens ta mee all da tyme two, hey?
Theo has had some really great in game learning moments with Wojo. A few games back the basket interference, and a foul call today. Wojo saw him hang his head and immediately brought him under his wing.
I really think Theo will be a 10 and 10 guy by junior year. He's learning, but has the skills to get there.

cain will be better than JJJ
He understands his defensive responsibilities far better than JjJ did as a freshman. His 3 pt shot is better. JjJ was better going to the rack.

Ok. At a different point in the game mu had 3 frosh, 2 Sophs. And, like you, I was ok—earlier in the year I was holding my breath.

You're probably right, I must have just missed it, bottom line, a lot to look forward to going forward. Might not be the class with the best overall potential, but best BEast attitude of any of wojos classes.
I have mentioned several times over the season, it is a nice class. At this point, I think GE and JC can can be nice contributors and possibly more. As for Theo, he might have more upside than I thought a month ago and time will tell. Doubt this is the class sitting in locker room celebrating BE championship and being told by Wojo that they were the class that helped provide gram turn the corner. IMO, if MU is to take big step forward, this gang needs to be bi role players and not go the guys.

This is what I want to see out of Cain. We know he has it in him. He could be a hellacious slasher.
Really, really like those three. I do think they were fortunate in that they didn't have to shoulder any of the scoring load and could be really selective with their shots (though I think Theo had a tendency to force it a bit since he didn't see the ball that much). The kind of guys that will develop into real forces when they are upperclassmen.

Goose, I hope you're wrong in the sense that someone from this class opens up and surprises us. I'm more inclined to believe it is Greg Elliott but like you, time will tell.
If they are the role guys on a Big East champ and contributors to our next Nat Champ, so be it.

If he's the best scorer in the NCAA and Markus passes the ball as rarely as Russ did could you blame him?
After this season Russ will have won 1 MVP and run 2 other MVPs out of town, all while their best ball was still ahead of them.

Yep if his back is OK he might be the one we remember the most from this class. Tall, lanky, and with his years of developing Soccer legs and feet skills. Something we been missing for a long time.
Worrying about playing time is a ridiculous exercise. Sam & Markus could go pro after next year. Just keep acquiring talent. That's the most important thing. The run always figures itself out.
Dgies
I agree on GE having a chance to break out next year or year after that. I did not state my Theo point well. A month ago I thought he was 8-10 min guy at best, but he might end up being contributor beyond that. His ceiling is higher than I originally thought.
