1. Andrew Rowsey from the AL logo. Could not stop laughing.
2. The big 3 do it again. Huge.
3. Defensive intensity much better in the second half.
4. A year from now, I hope Cain and Elliot can hang on to the ball.
5. I got an uninterrupted work out during the second half of the game. I believe that was the difference.
9-9. On to MSG.
Great game . I was off by one game (effin Depaul) on my prediction of MU 3rd in the Big East. I still think we are making it to the second weekend of the tournament . Big 3 are peaking at the right time of year now. Excellent way to finish off at the BC.
Nice to see a game when the opposition is not in the bonus with 10 minutes to go.
What a comeback with Cain playing for Sacar, who has not played too well last couple of games.
Hope those at game enjoyed that one, crowd was dead for about a ten minute timeframe, and then went nuts.
Hope that Depaul lose doesn't come to haunt them, would have been a five game win streak and seven out of eight. Just need SH to lose and then beat PU, that would give them a shot.
I for one also will miss Rowsey. Good or bad, he can keep you in the game.
A sweep against Creighton should help our tourney chances. Still think we need to win 2 in BEast tourney. The DePaul debacle likely killed us.
Sequence of the game. Sam gets stripped, AR dives to get the ball back and call timeout (pretty good heart right there 2323), no timeouts, Sam doesn't realize the shot clock is running down until about 6, Thomas bails us out with a stupid foul with the shot clock at 4, bonus, Sam makes both free throws. 4 point swing, but it felt much bigger than that.
Beat Creighton in Omaha, lost to DePaul at Wintrust. Go figure.
Anyways, always nice to beat Creighton. Anytime Marquette can shut their smug fan base up is a good day in my book.
In the second half, MU really attacked the defensive boards. Not enough offensive boards, but I think the Wojo was trying to get everybody back to try to slow down Creighton's transition offense.
Great win, great offensive game by the ng three and Matt had a nice game too. Freshmen are key parts to the teM and to the win. Nice job!
Great job by the Big Three. Commentators were very complimentary with regards to Matt's play.
Loved the Frosh today, bobbles, drops, and passes into section 117 notwithstanding. It will be fun to watch their progress. Sacar MIA - I thought after his several good games that he could avoid Chief lnad but now I'm not so sure. On to NYC!
Great game. Great win, even if Rowsey had to hit threes from the moon for us to win.
Super quiet postgame thread.
Weird
- That was the best the big three played together since Maui. This team is great when all three are clicking.
- Clutch shot after clutch shot from Rowsey late. But the play that is etched in my memory is when he dove for the loose ball late and called timeout. Just a gutty, tough play that showed heart.
- I love these freshmen. They are great at contributing where they can and knowing their roles. Love how they aren't afraid to take shots, but don't try to dominate the offense.
- 1,000 points for Markus on his 19th birthday. What an accomplishment. Imagine if he can find consistency next year...
- I like our chances, but how huge is that DePaul game now? Difference between being locked around the 9-10 line and being on the bubble.
- No idea what this team can do at MSG. Looking like it will be DePaul then Nova. If we go 1-1, 19-13 would be an interesting resume. This same resume would've got us in last year.

Yep, that was huge. Great hustle by AR and a brain fart by Thomas.

Those free throws put us up 6 I believe, it was at that point, knowing how we shoot free throws, that I felt confident we'd get the W
It's weird how infrequently both AR-30 and Markus have been on in the same game this season. Today, they STILL took turns taking over for long stretches. On a couple of occasions, they set each other up - we need more of that going forward. I especially remember one excellent cross-court pass by Markus to AR in the corner for 3.
Sam is so freakin' solid that it surprises me when he makes a mistake. He's such a great open 3-point shooter that it surprises me when he misses. And isn't that 2 straight games when he's missed some big FTs? Gotta clean that up, young man! But he had a great second half and really was the emotional leader. When he's all done, he might be the most underrated recruit in Marquette history.
And (saying this for about the 1,453rd time) Joey is supposed to be better?
Cain already is a good player. He has a chance to be a helluva player. I swear he looks taller every game.
The charge call on Markus was brutal - it was the only time I screamed at the TV today - but overall I thought the refs did a pretty good job in what wasn't an easy game to call.
Though I am bullish on Wojo, I did criticize his coaching against DePaul. As a (much lower-level) coach myself, I know that just like players coaches can have bad games ... and I thought he did against DePaul. But I thought he made all the right moves today, kept the team composed when we needed it, and was super intense when we needed that. He also had several good plays out of time-outs. I especially liked the one setting up Sam for the FT-line jumper. More of that one, please!
I was home in NC, some 900 miles away from the BC, but it sounded like a great crowd today.
Need to send out a search warrant for Sacar. He didn't even help much defensively. Glad Wojo had a pretty short leash.
Khyri Thomas is gonna make a lot of money playing basketball, and he had a heck of a game today, but I'm guessing he'll remember that brain-fart foul for a long time. Not as bad as the Vanderbilt kid who fouled the NW player in the NCAAs last year because a lot less was on the line, but still incredibly dopey. Just goes to show that even great players can (and do) mess up.
Rowsey to Bahe after the game: "It's just what I do." I love that!
Probably need to win 2 in the BET. We got this!

He's already on a lot of mock drafts as a junior, I really hopes he goes, would make the beast title race a two horse race with us a nova next year IMO
Depaul loss was unfortunate but they are not bad at all. Not great in conference but clearly capable of competing vs. any BE team. Conference was really competitive from top to bottom this year.

Lots of us might not want to admit this, but they gave just about every team in the conference a really tough game. Lost to X by 5 and 3; lost to CU by 1; lost to StJ by 1; lost to SH by 5; lost to Prov by 7; beat Prov; beat us.
Still they did lose 5 of their last 6 ... and we all know who the win was against. Grrrrrr!
This MU team is 0-3 this season in games I get up in the middle of the night to watch. (I live 13 hours ahead of MKE time) but I'm on vacation in Singapore this week so I decided to take the risk and get up to watch the game at 3:30 am. My partner advised me that I must leave the hotel room - she's well aware of the game related noises that I make and didn't want to be awakened at this unusual hour, so I decided to go watch the game while working out on the elliptical/bikes in the hotel gym. Believe it or not, I wasn't the only person in the gym at this hour.
Long story short:
- the streak is broken, it's now safe again for me to watch middle of the night games
- I scared the sh1t out of the lady on the treadmill next to me with my reaction when Rowsey made the 3 from the "AL" logo, but she's OK, no injuries
- I got a rare, uninterrupted 2 hour workout
Life is good!
Anyone have a link to re watch the game?
Imagine Krayton's board is bitchin' der season wuz fooked up bye losin' twise ta dat chitty team in MKE, hey?

This is absolutely true. They were up a bunch at Xavier, and gave them a handful yesterday. Good size and a tough team to score 80 on. It's unfortunate that their record, without knowing how close they were to being much better, is bad for the optics and pretty makes games against DePaul no win situations, but potentially a huge negative, as we saw last week. The lack of a true awful team at the bottom of the conference is great and maddening at the same time. I love this version of the Big East.

Definitely. The Big East was probably the most evenly matched power conference this year. Nova and X were clearly the top two, but the remaining 8 were a rugby scrum in terms of relative competitiveness.
It was great to see my first home game since March 1991. Much more fun when 98% of the fans are with you then against you. An electric crowd that was a near sell out. Great to see old friends for a pre-game "warmup."
I saw the last MU game at the Mecca and the first MU game at Bradley Center and now the last at the Bradley. My older kid is telling me I need to fly out next fall for the first home game in the new digs.
Interesting how student season tickets are handled differently than when I was a student. Will save for an offseason topic.

Hate to be Debbie Downer but you
might not have scene the last game at the Bradley Center. Let's hope you truly have scene the last game at the BC.

This could be wrong but I thought if there's an NIT home game someone told me it would be played at the Al, don't quote me on that though

A one game difference separates the 3rd place finisher from the 7th place finisher. We beat both the 3rd and 4th place teams twice and split with the 5th place team and lost twice to the 6th place team. Cannot get any more even than that. Our track record in the BET is not good so I would be happy with 1-1 and shocked if we were chosen on selection Sunday. I hope we can play in Dayton.

I think it would depend on scheduling with the bucks. My guess is that they would want to be at the BC

Just did a review of all possible scheduling. Marquette would have no conflict playing any one of 3 possible home NIT games in the BMO BC. The only possible conflict would be a third round game on 3/21 when the Bucks are in town that day. The NIT website indicates that 3rd round games will take place on both the 20th and 21st so MU's request for a 20th slot could be easily accommodated. IF Marquette wants the BC, it'll be available. Let's hope we don't have to find out.
Blue Jays Forum - fan lines
"Wojo owns Mac."
"Playing Marquette, the fans, and the refs at this point. Officiating is laughable."
"If there's anybody in the league who whines more than Rowsey, I've yet to see him. And he always looks to me like he's wearing makeup."
"Jays will lose. Marquette shot out of their asses in the second half, including some circus shots. Refs sucked. But still the Jays had chances. Mac's game management was very poor. Playing Clement at the end of the half was inexplicable. And riding Hegner when he can't shoot, rebound, or defend, is even stranger."
"Guy is making 30 footers. There is no defense for that."
"What can you do with that fukking shot? The guy throws up garbage and it goes in. He's a one-trick pony...you should just face guard him for 90 ft."
"These motherfers always shoot lights out against us....."
"Let's try not guarding Rowsey and see what happens. Or put four guys on him, but I don't think it would matter."
"What the fukk zebras !? Khyri was fouled by Hauser. And you gave mellon-head a timeout?!"
"God dammit...we are our own worst enemy sometimes. These guys are NOT better than us. They just have 2 guys that hit "fukk you" threes against us every game. I wish we could for once play the Marquette that shows up against DePaul. No, we have to get the 30 ft jacking, 65% from 3 version of this team."
"In our entire history we had played MU more than anyone else except for Drake. I think they have beaten us more than any other team. They have a great program"

Extremely well said! :-)
Saw this on Twitter - a clip of what Markus said right before he sank the free throws that put the game out of reach for Creighton. Can I say I just love this kid?:
