Hope he’s more flexible tonight.

I don’t understand why Rowsey and Howard are both starting despite how good of scorers both are. Does Wojo not see the defensive limitations with both of them on the floor and how good it worked against Creighton when we only had Rowsey on the floor?

Early signs of life. Getting a few open looks, making, open looks, Heldt hitting the floor to get a contested board. All good things. Not thrilled with the starting lineup, but so far, so good.

Looking like Ewing might have missed Sam on the scouting report. They just keep ficing him shots. I'll take that kind of defense all day.

Zone keeping Georgetown in the game.
Starting Howard and Rowsey because they are the two best guards.   As Elliott falls down again.

Never really been one to place blame on Wojo but last game was crazy.

Hope he’s more flexible tonight.

It was crazy because Wojo told them to turn the ball over n miss shots and get out rebounded?  Ya lets hope he tells them not to do that tonight.

Fouling them every time they shoot also helps.  Ridiculous, every game.  Another starter in trouble now Howard with two.

10 point lead gone. Sacar losing it, Cain losing it, Rowsey lost it.  Then another foul.  Oh well, nothing different.

Sam has to sit.  12-1 run with him on the bench.  Freshmen not strong with the ball yet.  Howard sitting during the run, too.  Need new scapegoat narrative.

Guru u are a complete moron.  U have an excuse for everything.  That is about as long as Wojo has kept hauser in because he was hot.  Theo, jamal and greg had a bout 6 turnover over a bout 10 possesions beacuse we r incredibly young.  Its sumple n unfortunate but wooden cant controll that either

Need to get stronger.

Stronger would help, but must be smart.  This trend has been there all year, almost every game.

With three minutes left, MU has four players with two fouls. MU is 1-2 from line, Geo is 10-12.  Again, ridiculous.
Title: Re: Georgetown Game Thread
Post by: tower912 on February 26, 2018, 06:45:35 PM
The momentum changed with Sam and Markus out when Cain went for the heat check.  Freshmen turned it over, offensive flow gone, dumb weak fouls, 20 point swing.

Every team we play has a great shooting night and we always foul.

I miss Buzz and his mantra of wanting to make more free throws then the other team attempts and paint touches.

Our paint touches result in turnovers.

We need a skilled athletic guard.

Howard is skilled but not athletic
Sacar is athletic but no skill.
Greg i think fits the bill but needs strength.
A grad transfer that can handle the ball and get to the rim would fundamentally change this team.  A tony miller would change this program

MU shooting 63% from three, GEO is 66%, wow.....

Free throws though, MU is 2-5 with Sam missing one and then front end.  3 points lost.
GEO is 14-16 from the line

Howard took one shot in the first half, one.

I have NEVER agreed with Coaches taking guys out with two fouls..yeah they all do it, and I think it's stupid..You get 5..what difference does it make if you pick up your third in the 1st half, or the second half?? Or...maybe they never even pick up a 3rd. You don't know. Coaches act like the 2nd half is more important than the first half..It's not. Leave Howard and Sam in. That's what you do. Sam played 40 against DePaul, guys in CBB do it all the time. Give Froling some run...wonder if he ever thought of that?? It's not rocket science.

It's an admirable goal, but you are too miserable to ever attain it.

Can't ask for a better shot off the timeout. I thought that was good for sure. Hard to go 8/8 from range, though.

Feed Sam in OT. That's all we need to do to get the W.

Yup. That would have been ugly, no need for him to be near three feet, up four.

Whew, close. 24 to 8 differential in free throws made and pull it out.

Weird that Rich Waltz and Tarik Turner got confused when it was a 4 point game. I guess they were saying the scoreboard was wrong. For a second, I thought I had the score wrong in my head.

Well it was wrong for about five seconds.  They should have realized it much earlier than they did.

EDIT: NM, watched it a few more times. He didn’t touch the ball until around half court.

Yep.  Because eFG% reigns supreme and we had to shoot 58% from 3pt line on 31 attempts to beat the Number 97 ranked team in Overtime.  Definitely a formula for winning - get crushed at the FT Line game in, game out, and rely on elite 3pt shooting (to beat teams ranked 97th).

I know.  Hopefully Wojo gets it one of these years.  Maybe JayBee and his FTs no matta mantra too.  We lost to DePaul with a better eFG, because we once again were a fouling machine in M2M.

Apparently, eFg doesn't always reign supreme and somehow beyond all crazy, DePaul getting to the line 32 times and making 23 of them, blew our 6-9 performance from the FT Line out of the water.  The feat damn near repeated itself at Number 97 GTown - we needed to shoot 58% from 3 on 18-31 to beat them in Overtime.  Just don't see 58% from 3 on 30+ attempts being sustainable.  To think otherwise is the height of stupid.

He's actually been around a month or two and been fine. Ners is a great poster until he finds his next John Dawson. He knows his stuff but has the tendency to get tunnel vision about one specific coaching decision

You keep struggling with that word. If I have anything less than complimentary to say about Wojo, you call it complaining. If I suggest a common forum for the few that talk more about posting history than about the actual thread topics, you call that complaining.

My only real complaint is that I have to read through these weird personal vendettas in so many threads.
