...so I'm happy the NCAA is making them vacate wins from 2012 and 2013.

ND's "Honor Code"????
I give 'em credit for having a good sense of humor.
Crean sucks
If you multiply this by 1,000 ... don't you have UNC?
And what was their punishment???

What a joke of an article.
What a joke of an outcome.
Penn State. Baylor. Unc. Etc etc etc
Yet ND self reports a non-athlete and ends up with this.
Why would universities self-police anymore?
I saw the thread's title and figured that 'nuff said. As if there had to be an article included?
ND blows.

It's ridiculous.
ND tried the UNC defense and it didn't work....
QuoteSchool president Rev. John I. Jenkins released a letter about the case Tuesday, saying the university is "deeply disappointed" with the NCAA's latest ruling:
"The NCAA has not chosen to ignore academic autonomy; it has instead perverted it by divorcing it from its logical and necessary connection to the underlying educational purpose. As noted above, Notre Dame's exercise of academic autonomy in the form of the rigorous application of the University's Honor Code was the source of the underlying violation on which the vacation of wins penalty is based. Although all parties acknowledged that Notre Dame did everything right in response to the academic misconduct, the University is now told that it must live with severe sanctions for its actions."
1. ND got screwed.
2. I don't care. I think it's funny.
3. Brian Kelly is taking as much responsibility as he usually does.
There has to be more to this.

Is vacating wins really much of a punishment, though? No, seriously.
Do they have to give back their BCS bowl appearance money? Do they go to each ex-players house and take away their Pinstripe Bowl rings?
Is this going to affect their recruiting in any meaningful way?
I am not seeing it.

Never understood vacating wins, records, whatever.
If anything, it makes the fact that " USC Running Back #5" could make it to the NFL as the #2 pick without any meaningful statistics to show for it even more impressive.

Good luck... does anyone even keep the plastic ring nub after the candy is licked away?
