Title: TV going forward
Post by: jsglow on February 08, 2018, 07:35:26 AM
If memory serves, the next 4 straight games won't be on national TV with FS WI ONLY picking up the games.  Anyone have other information?  Will this be streamable relatively easily?  Otherwise it's Homer/Mac on 540.

What is YurView?  I did some Googling, and seems to be some kind streaming site, but never heard of it.

Mr. Neilsen--since you are in the know, can you expand on the next 3 games after @STJ similarly as you did for this game?  I have FSN and FSN +, but not FSW.  I am trying to understand if I will need to get a Fubo 7 day trial for the other 3 games on FSW.  Thank you in advance.

The RSN's are not out that far. The listing I have are only for this Saturday and next Saturday nights game at Creighton. When I get them, I'll post them to keep everyone in the know.

Question. FSN stands for Fox Sports Networks. What regional network to you have? Like here in Milwaukee, our FSN is Fox Sports Wisconsin.

It's basically Cox's new branding for their local TV stations. They also have a website where they sometimes stream games.

It looks like both games will  be on either FS North or FS North +

Fox Sports North and Fox Sports North Plus.
Looking ahead, I would think you will get the Feb. 21st, St. John's at Marquette game, since the Wild and Wolves don't play that day. The last FSN game is at 11AM at DePaul on Feb. 24th. You should be fine in Minnesota (FS North) to get all 4 Marquette games on FSN.

Chicago option?

The 'U too'. On my Dish it's 48; YMMV.  I found it on my Dish Network guide.  Says HD so that's good.

Edit.  Just found this Wiki.  I'm pretty sure I've watched some DePaul here.

'Sports programming[edit]
In 2008, WMEU began carrying Big East Conference basketball games supplied by ESPN Plus, allowing the station to carry certain DePaul Blue Demons game telecasts (most of those games moved to "The U Too", when it launched on WCIU-TV digital subchannel 26.2 in January 2011). In addition, WMEU also broadcast sporting events from the Chicago Public Schools Public League.

On May 21, 2013, Weigel reached a broadcast agreement with the Chicago Sky to carry the WNBA team's games on "The U Too".[19] Subsequently on October 1, 2013, Weigel and the Chicago Wolves reached a deal to allow "The U Too" to serve as the over-the-air broadcaster for the AHL hockey team. The station carries most Wolves games, except for select matches that are subject to be moved to WCIU-TV.[20][21][22][23] The station began broadcasting all of its Wolves and Sky game telecasts in high-definition beginning with the team's respective 2014 seasons.[24] On October 1, 2014, it was announced that Weigel reached an agreement to carry select games from the inaugural season of the Fall Experimental Football League on WMEU-CD, during October and November.[25]'

They better not preempt "Mama's Family" reruns for that.

This is a good time to take step back and thank our lucky bumble bee stripes for the Fox Sports 1 deal. Do you remember when basically every game involved "how do I watch it" threads? It wasn't that long ago, even after we joined the BE.

Now, it's maybe half a dozen games per season (mostly the cupcake non-cons). So this feels like kind of a fun throwback. Or maybe I drank too much Stranahans.

I was hoping for Fox Sports GO, as I do the streaming thing only, but it doesn't look like it will be available there.

I just looked to see if I got MeTV with my over the air antenna and I do, so I was happy. But when I went on the MeTV website to look at the Saturday schedule, they list The Big Valley and Gunsmoke in that time slot.

I wasn't, but I thought WMEU was METV.  It's actually WWME in Chicago.

My mistake.  Either way, I can watch the game and still not miss "Love Boat" (although I wish they would air some of the episodes before Captain Stubing's annoying daughter joined the cast).

Enjoy it this year as those stations will all be owned by ESPN come next season, pending secondary rights deals.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd rather our game be on MeTV ... but that's life!

Back when I was at Marquette (warning: old person story coming), hundreds of students sat around the old Union watching Love Boat reruns at 10 a.m. every weekday morning. It was amazing and ridiculous at the same time!

It's not on FS1. Fox Sports Go just labels it as FS1 College Hoops. FS1 has NASCAR in that time period. If you have it on your app, then you do have the game.

Using 20/20 hindsight, they did you a favor.

My wife dropped me off at a bar so I could watch it while she visited her dad at a nearby assisted living facility. It was a frustrating game to watch.

Even though I am (obviously, like others here) a big MU fan, I doubt I will make a similar effort for the other upcoming games on FS Wis.

I say that ... but if a friend asks me to go to a bar to watch next Saturday's game, I probably will. Or if we win that one, I'll get energized all over again and will want to see the next one. So it's a fluid situation.

But yeah, cheese, this one was a good one to miss.

I have Comcast in Florida and in Chicago.

The way I know Marquette is on is to set our Warriors up as one of my "favorites." Press the "c" button on your remote and there will be a "watch" option for you. MU was on Fox Florida in advance of the Bucks and Magic tonight.

I should have not pressed the "watch" today. St. John's was ugly.

Yep, I was one of 'em.  Watched "Days of Our Lives" on one of the couches in the old Union while eating lunch, and "General Hospital" every afternoon while doing some homework.  I was just talking to some people at work this week and was surprised to learn that some of the same characters are still on the show (Days) 35 years later!!
