We are 0-8 against top 25 offenses this year per KenPom.
We are 13-1 against offenses outside of the top 25 (Georgia).
We play two more games against a top 25 offense this season (Creighton x2), but they lost a key player to injury and will likely not be a top 25 offense going forward.
Thank you.
Creighton will be a problem as well, Foster and Thomas will be a load to guard for this team.
Just don't have the coaching and the players to get it done. That simple.
We are also 1-8 versus the Top 50 defenses, per Pomeroy.
As of yet, we have not shown the ability to beat good teams, with a few exceptions.
When you run a bottom tier defense out there against a top 25 offense, you will get smoked every time.
The solution is to limit the minutes Rowsey and Howard play together. That's it.

You are correct, honestly didn't check on the defensive side.
The 0-8, 13-1 numbers also work for:
0-8 against KenPom top 25
13-1 against teams outside the KenPom top 25.
Sounds like a bubble team.
If I'm correct, Buzz took with him all scholarship players set to play in the year of his leaving, as well as the players Buzz had recruited for the next year, (not including a few leftovers that everyone had scooped up by the time he started). So, if you take that into consideration, this is really his second year.

Buzz also took with him the recruits MU would have right now if he was still coach! :o
Buzz also took with him Buzz's Bunch, many of whom could have made a better impression on the court last night than the guys Wojo trotted out there.
So, we just got beat by a first-year coach, who just escaped from the Horizon league.

Playing with none of his own players. Takes 4-5 years to judge

Well I am not a Butler expert, but I don't think they had a complete exodus of players/recruits like we had when Buzz left.
Also the 4-5 years is perfectly acceptable. Prime example Kevin Ollie; First two years with Calhoun's recruits were ineligible and Champions. Years 3-5 led to one NIT and one NCAA appearance and year 6 is looking like NIT at best. Most people thought UCONN struck gold and would keep right on rolling in the AAC.

Good example with Ollie and UCONN. Closer to home was thinking UW. Not trying to make this a Madison thread but when Gard first turned them around with Bo's players, everyone thought that they would keep rolling. Now we're contemplating rooting for them so that they keep him around longer.

You are incorrect.
Marquette is a different animal than Butler. Butler has a system in place, that only gets tweaked with a new coach. A new coach doesn't mean an entirely new system which takes place at a lot of other programs around the country.
That doesn't mean that Butler's better or worse than Marquette, just that it's different.
Also, leagues really don't matter in terms of where coaches come from. Brad Stevens was in the Horizon League before he went to the Celtics. Holtmann was in the Big South and now could be the Big Ten coach of the year. Jay Wright was in the CAA before taking over Villanova. As long as LaVall Jordan can develop the talent he gets (and I think he's done a good job of that so far), then he can be a solid coach at Butler. There aren't any guarantees, especially in a league as unforgiving as the Big East, but I like what he's brought to the table so far, and I think as long as he's willing to grow and learn, he could definitely be a good coach in this league down the road. With as much coaching turnover as Butler's had recently (4 coaches in 6 seasons), that's a dream for me. Quality, continuity and stability at the head coaching position.

Could you explain that more?

Recent history tells me Butlers better.

Also sounds, contrary to popular opinion around here, that we don't "win games we shouldn't win and lose games we shouldn't lose".
