The board is becoming unreadable. I'll be back when we win a game.
Why announce it? Just go...
But you're going to miss all of the Fire Wojo threads!!!
this team is an absolute joke. they don't even try to play defense.
Lol can't handle some light criticism of the team when they deserve it. go cry in the corner
No kidding. Why don't you start another thread about how bad the badgers are. That seems to help. This game is a complete embarrassment. I hope wojo is embarrassed. Why can butler get a new coach and be back in tournament? My guess is the amount of time and money invested in Marquette basketball doubles butler. Joke.

The answer is roster continuity and experience. In Buzz's first year at Marquette, he inherited a roster that had Wes Matthews, Jerel McNeal, Lazar Hayward, Jimmy Butler and Dominic James. 3 seniors, 1 junior and a sophomore. LaVall Jordan inherited a roster with 2 seniors (Martin and Wideman) and a junior in Paul Jorgensen.
It's been discussed here before by TAMU that this year Marquette was always going to be a step back. Anyone who played >10% of team minutes in the 2016 season is gone! Just 2 seasons ago, our roster looked like this:
- Henry Ellenson - went to the NBA - would be a junior right now
- Luke Fischer - graduated
- JaJuan Johnson - graduated
- Haanif Cheatham - transferred - would be a junior
- Duane Wilson - transferred - would be a senior right now
- Sandy Cohen - transferred - would be a senior right now
- Traci Carter - transferred - would be a senior right now
Experience matters.

Transfers happen. But they don't seem to happen at the same rate other places. And other programs don't seem to lose key players and starters like we have. I think most of those transfers are avoidable.

I also agreed this would be a setback year, but his is the last year everyone can use the "we are young", "we are inexperienced" excuse. Last year. Make up any excuses for next year, like injuries, refs, Wojo, etc...whatever.
Markus -JR
Sam- JR
Morrow-rs JR
Heldt-SR
Froling- rs JR
Anime-rs JR
Elliott- Sop
Cain-Sop
John -Sop
Joey- FR
Bailey -FR
Add - an experienced grad Senior.
So, if all stay and even that is an unknown, the young excuse is over.

I agree. No more "we're young" next year.

This isn't true. The average amount of transfers per team in D1 is between 2 and 3 a year at this point. Through Wojo's first three seasons we had six transfers or two a year. We've had one so far this season. Our transfer numbers are average so far.

Jimmy was Buzz's first recruit. Hardly inherited.

I stand corrected
This board just isn't the same without Lazar's Headband here. What will we do?

It's interesting that you say that. I think most of what I've read today is pretty well reasoned. There's no lipstick bright enough for last night's pig. I don't see many out on the ledge.

Haha! This made my day. Well said.
We need enforcers on the boards. Like 6-9, 240 and agressive. Look at the upper
bodies on the starters of Seton Hall, Butler, Villanova etc. and speed. We
are far from a finished product. Meat on the bones. Am starting to have
doubts on Wojo and staff. We F---en stunk last nifgt.
I'll give Wojo a bit of a pass on this year. We still don't have all the pieces in place and we're playing with two short guards who have difficulty defending. We knew that going in and knew if we were to win, we're going to have to badly out-shoot the other guy.
Next year is different.
As other posters said, we'll be an experienced team. Our newcomers will fill massive holes we have now (i.e., Ed Morrow) and we'll have beef we haven't had in years. Our freshmen, notably Theo and Greg Elliott will be experienced Big East players. Brendan Bailey will be the project and, of course, we'll have Hauser Jr., playing.
At this point, Wojo's seat should not even be warm. But next year, either we perform BIG TIME or there should be some serious questions about us. In the meantime, enjoy the ride. It won't be boring!

Will a 6'-7" 235 junior work for you?
Meet Ed Morrow.
