what a floppin punk
Remember when we all talked about how awesome he was about 1 month ago...
Turns out I can't stand him.
Yup
Glad he's a senior.
He's an irritant but a good player. You can say the same about Rowsey. Tough game. Lots of poistivies to take away but unfortunately no W.
He shouldve gotten a Tech for walking after the ref arguing the call, it was even the correct call and he was still arguing.
Macura vs Rowsey was my match up of dreams
EVERY team needs a Macura or Rowsey.
I'll take Rowsey over Macura any day. Rowsey's not a dirty player. Talks a lot, works hard, plays with a chip, but not dirty. Macura is just dirty. Anyone who pulled that stuff at a high level pickup game would just get pummeled - and then never invited back.
Guys, we would love a guy like Macura on this team. That said, I won't be sad if he tears his ACL flopping this year

I think this is right. Rowsey talks more trash than most, but I don't see him playing as dirty as Macura. I watched Macura off the ball a lot tonight, and he's always making unnecessary contact and throwing little shots at guys here and there. Rowsey doesn't get involved in that stuff. I'll take him over JP any day.
Rowsey outclassed macura in every way. It wasn't enough between Howard and the refs though.
Both dem dudes are hemorrhoids, ai na?
Macura is a turd, but he made a heck of a play on Howard. He is a whiney punk. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some teeth knocked out before the end of the year.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Rowsey was typical Rowsey. Some good stretches, but a lot of poor shots and a lot of hero ball. Macura was much better down the stretch on both ends.

Sorry Sultan, this just isn't true.
Rowsey: 31 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 turns, 11/24 FG
Macura: 15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 turns, 5-12 FG
Rowsey was the much better player last night. Rowsey's #thething might be "cheap" but it is absolutely a foul and is capitalizing on an opponent's mistake. What Macura did to draw the technical last night was not a foul, he simply tricked the refs into calling a T.
I did say down the stretch...not overall. But Rowsey's shots to tie it up at 80 came later in the game than I thought they did. So I wasn't correct either way.

Macura got in Rowsey's head which led to a lot of "hero ball" from Drew. That doesn't show up in the box score.
I like Macura alot. He's a pain in the ass when you play him, and he is a whiny SOB, but the dude is a player. Nothing but respect to him from me.
I like guys that play with their heart on their sleeve.
That said, he could have easily been T'd up at least 2x yesterday.

Rowsey very rarely play hero ball. He is so good of a shooter that he is allowed to take those kinds of shots if he is open. I didn't see hero ball last night.

Did you watch Georgia game? He was the biggest reason for the loss.

I actually didn't. One game I have missed this season. From what I have heard he did play hero ball that game. And the stats are there to prove it (poor eFG%, lots of turnovers). Didn't see it last night.

This is inaccurate. Rowsey largely plays hero ball. He certainly is a great shooter but he is also often selfish and a ball hog. Fortunately our coach is not shy about letting him know the hero garbage needs to stop.

Largely plays hero ball yet one of the assist leaders in Big East? Dont buy it. At times, yes. But not "largely".
Macura will get someone injured bad before he is done by randomly stepping in front of cutters. Good way to get a concussion popping out from behind a screen to draw a charge. Just plain stupid and he did it on back to back possessions to Rowsey and Theo.
Its called freedom of movement and the refs re supposed to allow guys to move freely without the ball not play pinball
Don't know if they are allowed to but the refs should have waived off the T after watching the obvious flop. It was a defining moment of the game.

I don't think they can. At least they changed it from Rowsey to Froling, it would have been his 4th. Harry did give him a shoulder, but not nearly as much of one as Macura was giving trying to box out.

But leads the team in assists and is top ten in the conference....

Defining moment? MU got the lead back less than two minutes later and soon after that were up 4 with the ball and missed two three pointers. (Rowsey and Hauser.) Despite that, John put them up by five a couple minutes after that.

Sure he would have his defenders, but many would see him for the embarressment that he is.

Some would. Hell we have people who criticize Rowdy regularly. But your right that most of us would love him. Personally, I'd view him as a necessary evil

Exactly. He's the kind of guy you hate unless he is on your team.
But he's not on my team, so I hate him. He is a whiny punk.
There is a huge difference in my mind between the Macura and Rowsey.
Rowsey doesn't flop.
They both talk. They both talk to opposing players/coach/bench.
They both talk to opposing fans/student section.
Macura, like Davison, flops.
Rowsey doesn't flop.
Because there are some similarities don't make the sweeping generalization that MU would embrace and love a guy like Macura/Davison and they only reason we don't is because he wears a different colored jersey.
Macura just got away with what should have been two fouls at the end of DePaul/Xavier.
He's untouchable.
I assume refs watch some game film of their performances. I would think they would be pissed at him for making them look bad as a ref. It would be hard to give him the benefit of the doubt on any call from then on

I actually expect the opposite. If refs watched footage, Macura wouldn't be so untouchable and they'd be more particular on #TheThing.
