Sorry if the selection is too wide or too narrow.
Wanted to allow for different trains of thought without having too many options...and capture the idea of "making the Tourney".
I assume everyone agrees we're in the Big Dance with 11-7 and all agree 7-11 and we're out.
I realize we can probably agree on 10-8 and 8-10 as well...but wanted to allow for thinking outside typical scope.
Will bump the poll at least once a day until X-game to make it more visible on the thread list....hope you don't mind.
These "Wisdom of the Crowd" POLLS often temper my irrational optimism about MU bball. Lets see where we land.
I feel better with Froling being back to at least give us another body at minimum, and a valuable big contributor at maximum. Theo maximizing his minutes also gives me optimism that he won't just be there to absorb fouls.
I still have pause that we'll be able to handle the brutes of the Big East, but I feel much better than I did a couple weeks ago.
No 9-9 or 10-8 scenario leaves this team out of the tourney. None. 9-9 is a stone cold lock. Better chance of making the tournament at 8-10 than missing it at 9-9.
Going into the season I was thinking around 8-10, at best 9-9. After Non-con I see no reason this team can't finish 10-8 if not better.
I thought Provi and Butler would be much better competition than they currently look. I see no reason we shouldn't get 6 out of 8 from Provi, Butler, DePaul, Georgetown.
Thinking we will surprise the league and take 5 out of 8 from STJ, Creighton, SH, and X sweeping Seton Hall not STJ.
I am of course overly optimistic but not crazy.. thinking two not so exciting losses to Nova are in our future
Anticipating continued player development, especially Harry and Theo which will add a new dimension to the offense I see 20 wins. So 11-7 really like the look of this team and the rate of improving.
I still think we are on track for 3rd in the Big East and make it to the second weekend of the tournament. The Big 3 are all playing well, we are getting a consistent level of play from Matt Heldt and Sacar is working hard in his role. The team was able to get the young guys some additional experience in the OOC season, which I think will offset the loss of Haanif.
The conference schedule looks hard, but remember those competing teams have to deal with our 3 point arsenal as well.
I don't think there's any way we miss the tourney if we go 10-8. We are dancing if we go 19-12 (10-8) even if we lose our first Big East Tourney game. At 10-8, we won't be playing the first day so there's no chance of a loss to Georgetown or DePaul. Worst case scenario would be losing to Providence at MSG which still gives us a RPI of 50 and SOS of 32.
9-9 gives us a decent shot and even 8-10 would likely have us in the NIT.

Surprised to see you think a 9-9 BE isn't more certainly in the tournament. Besides DePaul and Gtown, I'd be shocked to see any 9-9 BE teams not get in. PC maybe, but I also don't see them going 9-9.
what the hell-we all go 9-9 and make the tourney, ehehyn'a?

I think it probably does, but that gets our RPI around 60. That's the range where the Selection Committee could leave us out depending on what they value this year.
Running the numbers now, I see that putting us at 59/32. That's likely good enough, but if the Wizard is off by 5-10 and we're closer to 70 than 60, it becomes less of a lock.
10-8 absolutely, 9-9 most likely, 8-10 probably not (unless it's a really soft bubble).

Take that to the Villanova board, see if you come back.
I'm thinking 8-10 and headed to the NIT but I would be happy to eat my words on selection sunday
I still think NIT
But I'm much more confident now then early one.
Butler I knew would most likely be down but it might be more then I thought and Providence is blahhhh.
Full dosage of Markus vs Georgia woulda been nice
MU is one injury to the 3 scorers away from disaster. I voted 8-10 as I think one of them misses a couple of weeks at some point. I also fear Cain and Elliot getting manhandled. But if there are no injuries to Sam, Andrew, or Markus, and the freshmen can hold their own for enough minutes per night, the team will do better than 8-10.
I voted 10-8 and that is what I think we need to get an NCAA bid.
9-9 with including 4 wins over DePaul and Georgetown would require us to win a Big East tournament game.

I'll take that bet. $100? Wash if they don't finish 9-9.

I'd be uncomfortable and worried in that scenario, but I think you're probably correct and I hope bilsu takes the bet so you can have his/her money.
10-8. Too early to write them off for the Big Dance.
Final bump to catch any final votes
I went with 5-13 or worse. If I'm right I won't be disappointed, but if I'm wrong I'll be ecstatic!

The injury has happened.
bump. A lot of people bullish on MU's chances to get in the NCAA at 9-9 back in December.

Oooh .. as one of the five 9-9+Miss voters .. I'd like my beef n cheddar sack with extra horsey sauce, please.
I figured we would beat Depaul twice and would be 10-8.
Shame on me!

DePaul was better than most people thought going into the year. Center and forward were really pretty good. Add Cain and lots of 6'5" bodies and there length effected
MU with no height. DePaul crushed them on the boards at home, killed Providence as well. Happens, a bigger loss to me was Providence at home. Beat them MU was
in. That way, hard for the committee not to see, they beat PU, Hall and Creighton both times.
