1. Elliot looked good.
2. 5 guys in double digits is always a good thing. I predict MU will not lose a game all year with 5 guys in double figures.
3. I know that some people say free throws no matta, but it sure is nice to send Rowsey and Howard and Sam to the line down the stretch.
4. Not good defense, but just enough on occasion. There isn't enough size or depth. Howard and Rowsey get shredded. Heldt can only do so much. Elliot, Anim, and Haanif had their moments.
5. Waters was unstoppable. That will happen. But it is tough to win when one guy scores almost 1/2 your points.
6. Sam needs to manage his fouls better. And he looks like a Badger kvetching after every call.
7. Theo and Jamal, we will need you this season. Keep working.
8. 2 and 1 in Maui. Take it, run. Build on it.
9. 3 days in 3 games not getting huge run from all 9 guys is rough.
-
Take the win and run. Great trip to Maui. Greg Elliott can play, and he's only going to get better. He's gonna be pressing Haanif and Sacar for playing time soon.
-
I credit this victory to #TheThing
-
Markus hasn't found his shot yet and we are winning/hanging around so that's good too
-
Most didn't think 2-1 in the winners bracket and a third place finish would happen.
-
I know they don't matter, but 31-35 from the line is pretty darn strong. Too bad it is meaningless. Oh well.
-

It is meaningless. They could have shot 22/35 and still won.
-
Nice contributions from Heldt, Elliott, and Anim.
Sam needs to stay out of foul trouble but that 4th foul call on him was absolutely horrendous.
Playing defense without fouling continues to be an issue as does allowing guys to get the and-1. If you're going to foul someone make it tough for them to get the shot off, if possible.
Markus and Rowsey can't contain quick guards so we're going to need defense from Anim, Elliott, and Haniif.
Bilas was really, really positive regarding what Froling will bring to the team. I hope he's right as that would be huge. I do really enjoy him as an announcer as well, which I can't say about too many.
Overall, I'm happy with the result.

I honestly felt that was our best case scenario. I'm really happy with our Maui. If WSU wins tonight, we had the second best resume showing.
-
Biggest point I think that was forgotten..
LEARN HOW TO INBOUND THE BALL!
-
A very successful trip to Maui is now in the books. Let's feast on some cupcakes for a little. Kids have earned a break with a very solid 3-2 start to the season.
-
Those offensive rebounding numbers didnt look good but a win is a win.
-
2-1 and the loss coming to WSU isn't bad for the resume.
Elliott and Anim both looked pretty good, and they play defense. Hope they continue to improve with more game experience; they've earned more minutes.
Very nice game from Heldt. Lot of hustle, looked to finish strong which was nice to see.
-
I was encouraged by Sacar. And by Elliot. John will be good, though maybe not this year. Rowsey, Markus and Sam are players, but we knew that. Matt is a solid back up 5. Sorry to say Haani is pretty much who we saw last year - I expect his minutes to dwindle.
-
By far Sacar's best game. I was glad to see him dunk after that one steal because, after yesterday, I wasn't sure he could. We wouldn't have won yesterday had he dunked instead of getting 2 lazy layups blocked, but that definitely energized the Shockers.
2-1 and 3rd place in a very good tournament. Definitely a nice showing and something to build off of. We have lots of weaknesses but also some real strengths, and we're a fun team to watch.
Ring out Aloha! (trademark pending)

Top three worst takes of all time.
-
So grateful that Waters decommitted from Georgetown. I would have hated having to face that guy at least 7 more times.
-
Greg, Matt, and Sacar were all very, very good. If we can get those kinds of contributions from those players all year we're in business.
Sam was great but foul trouble got him in some trouble again.
Rowsey was godawful in the first half, outstanding in the second.
When Howard's shots start to fall the offense will be back to scary good.
When Harry is eligible to play we might not be terribly thin.
-

Nothing meaningless about it.

Nope, those are the kind of guys we want in thE BE.
-
Nothing meaningless about it.
I'm sure Sultan was simply going teal-less. He wouldn't have made such a ridiculous comment. Right, Sultan?
-
Also, when the ball is moving offensively we are pretty darn impressive. When Howard and Rowsey go into hero ball the offense looks a lot worse, even though they have the ability to make tough shots.
-
Nope, those are the kind of guys we want in thE BE.
So all of the other teams in the Big East should be stacked with players that are better than ours?
-
Nothing meaningless about it.
I'm sure there's some advanced metric out there about free throws but I simply LOVE that we can put the ball in the hands of 3 guys and know that the end of game the charity shots are swishing. Even Matty has become 'solid'. All good.
-
Something about LSU's coach bugged me. Not sure what it was - probably the fact that he had his polo buttoned all the way up.

Yeah, it's weird. A southern thing??
The only other guys I can think of that do that are Buzz Williams (of course) and Bubba Watson.

Nope. You are ignorant.
-
Great seeing Amin and Heldt have a nice game. Team has really grown in a week.

I want to be the best league in the country.

Point of order: MU finished 3-1 in this tournament. Let the cupcakes begin.

Stan was sporting a fully buttoned polo tonight.

Plus Tax, it has to takes Wojo for them to figure it out.
-
I thought it was one of Wojo's best coaching jobs. Emphasis was definitely on getting more guys involved - dumped it in to Matt several times in the first 5 minutes.
Sub rotation was also very good. Changed guys often to try to keep pressure on Waters.
Gave Elliott and Anim a combined 41 minutes, which they certainly earned.
-
Big Three put up 60 and the rest of the team was able to compete well.
I continue to believe we will have an excellent team performance this year.

Will Wade is a really good young coach though. Shaka post-VCU is an incomplete, but I expect Wade to not fall victim to the post-VCU flameout that their other former coaches have fallen into at big programs

dude was really wired! first thoughts were, how did this little guy get past security. then once on the floor, wow! hairpin trigger? he reacted to every call like he was shot out of a procto exam-yeeeee owwwweeee!! and he buttoned the alligator over his adams apple like a zip-loc. someone tell him chicks dig a little chestulation even with a faux crucifix to show 'em your sensitive side ;D

People from my old high school didn't tell me he was THAT good!

What’s your opinion on Elliott? Or Ike for that matter?

Doubt Waters will make it 4 years at LSU. That was an amazing performance from a freshman. Maybe the best I have seen from a guard. Range was unbelievable.
Watching Rowsey and Waters, throw in Sam in the first half, and you will not find a better shooting game. Once Howard finds his range again, MU will be a scoring
machine. Nice to see Elliott get some quality minutes and played well, but compare Waters to him, he is not even in the same league.
-
I am very bullish on Elliot. Ike is the foundation of our future, loved his enthusiasm on the sidelines.
Happy Thanksgiving.
HC (and others), let's please remember that it's Elliott, (2 tts). Happy Thanksgiving all.

I don’t understand why you have an affinity for discussing proctologists and their work. It’s a strange infatuation.

Lots of one-liners/images come to mind, especially today (turkey basters, for one), but RS is a medico, no? Anyway his pithy description/commentary of Coach Wade was howlingly funny. Well done, doc!

Stan can pull it off but I'm not a fan. It's the Bubba Watson look and Bubba is a grade A douchenozzle

I love Howard and I understand he has a permanent green light but it really seems like he is forcing some bad shots like Reinhardt did at the beginning of last year. I know he will start making a lot of them but until they start falling I feel like he should be passing and waiting for better looks.
-
We know.
Good thing you never re-hash the same stuff. See how annoying it gets?

RS—are you a proctologist?
More importantly, are you a proctologist who never tired of a$$ jokes?

Wojo had a very strong tournament, IMHO.
It only makes sense that he would improve in his 4th season.
Very happy to have him running our program.

it bothers you that much? if you are disabled in that region and suffer from some kind of malady, my apologies-otherwise, it was a joke francis...nothing to see here

sometimes i feel as though i am working on that end, but no. i work on the same end as 4ever

Noted and correction made.
-
Wouldn’t be surprised if sacar or Greg started next game and took haanif spot
-
So all of the other teams in the Big East should be stacked with players that are better than ours?
Sure a league with the top players would allow MU to recruit the best who always want to play against the best.
Have some patience, FFS.
-

I'd give Sacar the start.

I'd give Sacar the start.
Well, we did take a nice lead with Haani starting, no?
And really, as has been discussed before, starting no matta.

Ok-
a blind man and his dog approach a busy intersection. His mobility dog, ignores the dangerous volume of traffic and continues to lead his master across the street. Tires screech, horns honking, drivers swearing, the man and his dog reach the othe side surprisingly safe. He reaches into his pocket to get his dog a biscuit and a passerby exclaims what the...your dog almost got you killed. Why are you giving it a reward? The blind man replies, this ain’t no reward. I’m giving him the biscuit to find it’s head so I can kick his ass ;D

Fair enough. I've got nothing against Haani.
-
I am very happy with how we played at Maui. Win 2 of 3. Both wins against decent competition that will be bubble teams much like us. We competed against Wichita St.
Rowsey has his warts but he is fun to watch. Just a great shooting talent.
I have not been a Wojo supporter but I do think that brighter days are ahead of us.

If Sam did not get those 3 quick fouls we just might have won that game. I believe I heard Jay say as much.
