Let's shock some mouth breathers today.
We win today, we are 2 and 1. Ironic, and shocking. ;)
Theo for SOTG if he doesn't foul out.
GO WARRIORS!!!!!
Might need to break out some lucky Sonoran Salsa today. Dunks, can ya help a brother?
WOWSEY for Pre SOTG
I'll be bold Cheats Sotg
We can't lose to a bunch of people that think Wichita is a state.
Howard with a Xavier 2/18/2017 repeat, goes 9/12 from bolognaville
That's the only thing I can guarantee
Quiet in the chat
So faar hauser isn't allowed to breath on a man, while Wichita might as well have brass knuckles.
Not a fan of ESPN's scoreboard. Tough to find the info quickly.
Hope they review both of those long twos. Thought Sacar was behind the line initially.

Bad call on Theo. He screens illegally alot but that was not a dirty one.
How much is it that Theo sets a physical screen so the refs assume it is illegal?

Did Hauser say something about the refs mom? Guy cant touch anyone.
3 on Sammy is going to hurt. Hopefully, Sacar or someone else can step up to the plate.
Damn Sam
Soft ass foul calls on Sam
Super fast 5 call I guess? :o
They've got their hands all over our dribblers.
Wish Howard could get an and one like they did on Hauser. lol.
great play by Markus.
Crap call against Theo.
Last year's matador defense has returned.
Witchita state is really really good. Props to MU for hanging in so far.
Marcus is possessed!
Oh my Howard
This is a f'n joke. If they're going to call everything a foul then college basketball needs to go to 6 fouls.
Loving how GE is playing
Howard should have about 3 and ones that have gone uncalled.
We need Sam. These fouls are absurd. Calling the tacky fouls on Sam and then not calling hacks on the drives
They're making calls on Theo that remind me of a frosh Matt. Looks clean to me.
BS!!!
Terrible call.
Another awful call.
Are you f'n kidding me with that charge call??
These calls are starting to get out of hand...
Jesus. Maui must really want ND vs. WSU.
what a complete flop on Hanie
Getting jobbed by these refs
Did espn tell the refs they really wanted a domer vs witchita final?
What dirt does Gregg have on the guys in stripes?
Goaltend??
Looked like a goaltend too. Ball definitely hit backboard.
They need to fix the charge, this is obnoxious.
We're winning this
Thank God that one refis coming with the makeup calls. Blatant missed travel under the hoop.
then Heldt barely touches a guy and he's hit with one.
Seriously does it get more ticky tack?
Wichita has gone to the UNC defense - fall for the call.
Cain almost brought the house down
Where was the trailer?
I'm going to lose my hair with these calls.
One thing I'll say watching this team this year; wojo has answered the question of whether he can coach defense
So many chances for MU to tie/take the lead and haven't capitalized. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt them.
Can't catch them because its all Rowsey on offense now, just shooting and missing.
Wow Sacar gets stuffed twice, great defense there by that WSU kid. Shame.
Jamal almost had a play that wouldve been on Sportscenter
Playing decent for having 2 of our best players on the bench, arguably the best all around player on the bench for basically the half.
Freshman have made some nice plays
Should be up 1. I'm encouraged. Cain, rowsey and Anim all had chances to get us ahead.
Kind of glad I'm only listening online. Seems unbelievably frustrating, but still only down 3!
Glad we are facing a physical team like this. Gotta thicken those necks early in the season!
Officiating in college basketball is fundamentally broken. It gets worse every year. Officials could call a foul on something literally every single possession so it's hard not to feel like you're getting f*cked when all the calls go against your team.
I know the results haven't been there so far for the most part, but the defense is light years better in terms of rotations and intensity.
And the defense is noticeably more disruptive with Sacar and Cain in there.
FT's no matta

ALL THE DEFENDERS ARE STRAIGHT UP AND YOU GO UP INTO 3 GUYS AND GET THE FOUL. R U SERIOUS
Going to be swell finishing this game with guys all under 6'6"
Cain getting some nice run. Haney doesn't know what to do with the ball. Frustrating player sometimes
Geez, was that a late whistle on Theo.

Yup, high school and college. The freedom of movement rule has absolutely killed basketball on all level.
In the average amount of time it takes to write a post, 3 fouls get called against MU.

Leftover pizza here.
Just when I thought worst case is we go in down 3, Rowsey walks.
Lucky to be down only 5 boys. If you'd have told me we'd have Sam o the bench for that long and Markus on the bench for a few at the end of the half and only be down 5, I'd have told you you were crazy.

Kept it close with foul trouble, not bad. Howard was magnificent.
Too many layups by WSU and Rowsey hurt them with terrible shot and then a turnover in last minute. He needs to get it together big time to win this thing.

Pass it to someone who's open. Would you rather have a wild, forced shot from Rowsey or an open shot from Cain or Cheatham?
Rowsey off...again. And massive foul trouble for us. Somehow down 5. That's crazy.
Could get ugly quick thanks to the fouls kinda like Purdue. But it's good to know we can really hang around with good teams.
Fun, yet frustrating first half. Rowsey was trying to do too much as the end, Sam needs to be able to keep his a$$ on the floor, a lot of dumb ticky tacky fouls, and too many missed assignments that lead to easy buckets. However, with all of that said, Sam will be fresh and we are only down 5 to a top 10 team. Not too bad!

I guess I don't understand the Anim criticism. Playing hard. Defending well. Hit a shot.
Not going to be a star but he certainly hasn't been terrible.
Only down 5 is a positive given the foul trouble...but MU also had plenty of chances late in the half and allowed WSU to score the last 4 points. Could have been a lot worse, but it also could have been better.

When MU plays top 20 teams*, they have very little margin for error. They can't force shots or miss too many open ones. Today they've done both.

To who?
Heldt making 2 free throws off a 1 and 1 was nice
This is the kind of game we'd have to hit tough shots to win. Not only are we not hitting those thisnhalf but we're missing good looks. Love the effort regardless. This is a really likable team

It was. But the previous one by Hauser that you criticized was a very good shot. And you want us to drive but we've gotten blocked at the 2 of the past 3 times that we did
Doesn't have to drive all the way to the rim. Just hit the middle. Like that Rowsey shot.
Or his 2 floaters.
Also that Cheatam up and under was not what I had in mind
WSU way too many layups, and everytime MU has a layup, they are stuffed. Tough......
Cheatham is horrific on offense.
If we hit half our open threes we win this with relative ease. Disappointing, especially since it likely means no ND matchup.
For getting hosed on a bunch of calls in the first half, we stuck with them pretty long. Eventually, the Shockers were too big, too strong and too good today.
Let's get em tomorrow boys. Go Warriors.
Got away at the end but plenty of bright spots today. This is a fun team

Ugh. Valid point? Maybe put hauser down there?
I got nothing. Game over at this point but color me surprised, if we had made a few more open looks we would be in it.
Sadly this will end looking like a blow out.
Once it was 45 all, and MU took some bad shots to lead to Wichita points, you knew it was over then. It's too bad, all the missed shots or not, had MU just taken better shots during that stretch, they may have won this game. :(
Great effort by the guys, WSU is just flat out better at mostly every position. At least it was competitive.

Agreed. They had more weapons. We have only have 3 strong ones, and got nothing out of Hauser. Put up a good fight though.

We were still in it well after that. We just couldn't get open shots to fall
Cue all the negative threads to be created after losing to a top 10 team
We will beat LSU tomorrow
Marquette's defense is awful and that fact stands out even more when 1) they play a good team and 2) MU's offense sputters.
No shame in losing to a strong, veteran team. Gotta get back at it tomorrow.

Rowsey and Howard are clearly MU's best scoring options but when they combine to take two-thirds of the team's shots and only account for 3 assists, MU isn't going to win.

We played much better on defense against a big strong team.
Won't win many games when the rest of the team makes a total of 5baskets while shooting under 25%

When an opponent shoots 54% from the floor and scores 40 points in the paint, it's hard to give the D much credit.

Honestly this team has grit that I haven't seen from any wojo team yet. Defensively we're way ahead of wojos previous teams. We have two legit, dynamic scorers. We have freshman that are contributing, but more importantly have high ceilings. And we had our chances to win this game but for our shots not falling.
I just like this team. And I'm the first to admit I haven't enjoyed watching any of wojos previous teams

Exactly, Rowsey played like a ball hog today, has to realize he is 5'10" and every shot is not a great shot. One thing Wojo has to do is sit him a little as he got tired
in the second half, so did Howard. Missed a lot of shots. When Sam does not come to play they will be in trouble every game. Cain has to hit open easy shots and curious does Elliott have any offensive game? Love his athleticism but need something on the offensive in. Plus the offense is so guard oriented, need some scoring
out of the center position. I am really interested to see how he uses Froling in the middle. Supposedly, he can pick and pop, but not sure this offense is for him. WSU
is good and deep. I bet Willis would be starting for MU, he made a big mistake not coming to MU.

Merritt, normally I would agree, but considering their overwhelming strength and experience, I thought we played well for the most part on D despite some breakdowns.

Three guys on MU can score. We don't have much room for balance when the options are limited. It is a shame we don't have an offensive presence down low. Maybe Harry can drop a few for us when he gets eligible.

I agree. I think the stats got skewed late when it was clear we ran out of gas. They started getting to the paint at will the same time our shots stopped falling. That's no coincidence

Freshman have some talent, but need to bring something to the offensive end. Theo will not bring much this year, maybe never. The other 2 have to start.

Big, strong, experienced.

Agree, 3 frosh and 4 sophs. I think Sacar is a little better than Hanii in at least Sacar has a shot at finishing his layup whereas Hanii seems to seldom get the ball above the rim. Let the sophs and frosh play and get the experience. With Morrow and Joey next season we should have some scoring inside.
Looking forward to watching Cain develop. The program hasn't had a guy with his length and hops since Jamil Wilson graduated.

So are the refs.
For a guy that was supposed to be really good, there sure are a lot of comments along the lines of "Sam never found his rhythm" or "Sam was taken out of his game with fouls" or "Sam never got into the flow."
Maybe Sam Hauser just isn't going to be that good. His ceiling looks to be an average college basketball player. There's nothing wrong with that. He's OK offensively and very weak on defense.
HC clearly has no confidence in going to the basket with his right hand. He tried that goofy up and under today when going strong with the right probably would have gotten him to the foul line. Yesterday on an open right side layup he switched to his left hand at last minute. Good defense but can't understand the mental block over using his right hand. Should have fixed it over the past 2 summers.

I know you are just trolling but in case anyone is wondering, of all returning Big East players, only two ranked in the top 5 for both eFG% and dPPP. One was Jalen Brunson, the other was Sam. The idea that Sam is a poor defender is one of the craziest myths that sometimes gets posted on this board

This is at least the 2nd if not 3rd attempt at trolling Sam Hauser after the game today. If you would have watched the game yesterday, you would have seen a complete all around player......and he's a sophomore.
He had some quick fouls that threw him off today, so in your mind that equates to a sub par player who will never be better than mediocre.

After criticizing the defense last week, I'm encouraged by Maui. Yes, we got taken to the woodshed the last 10 minutes by a bigger, stronger, more experienced team, but we also kept it close as long as the threes were falling.
So we know our kryptonite. It's big, strong, experienced teams. That's a problem for a lot of teams. It's also not what we'll see on a nightly basis. We don't play anyone else on the schedule that is top-100 in both experience and size, per Pomeroy.
We should look better against LSU and I'd put the over/under at wins needed for a tourney berth at 18.5. That's attainable. I do think we'll ultimately see improved defensive efficiency this year. With our shooting, that'll win us some games we shouldn't. On another night, the shots fall, we win that game. If we played Wichita Monday in the opener, I think we would've won that game.
Win today and that's a great Maui trip.
