Tough to predict not knowing whether Howard or Elliot are going to play.    So, IMO, if they play, MU wins.   If they don't play, MU loses.

7 scholarship players.  Heldt, John, Hauser, Cain, Sacar, Haanif, Rowsey.     How much has Rowsey played this preseason?      If he gets in foul trouble, your backcourt will be Haanif and Sacar or Cain.   If MSM is raining 3's, limiting the size of Heldt and John, what exactly are MU's options?     The dominoes are aligning for an upset if MSM gets at all hot from 3.   I am flashing back to the Western Michigan NIT game.    Sam bringing the ball up?

Markus doesn't start but dresses as a reserve. No way wojo is letting Nebraska Omaha happen again.

MU beats UWM by 15 in an exhibition, beats a top 20 team in Northwestern in a scrimmage, and then plays a tight, meaningless exhibition game that they were clearly simply experimenting lineups and trying to work on things that needed work on, without 40% of the players that will get the most minutes, and we think we're due for an upset by MSM.  Not sure I see it.

If you factor in the three released scores against NW I'm pretty sure we lost by one. We beat them two out of three by a slim margin and they won by a wider margin the other set

We still won playing with essentially 6 players last game with Markus playing the worst game of his career and the opponent incredibly hot from three. I think a healthier John will make a big difference in this game.

They released three of the four sessions, I believe. The 20 minute half session we won by 6. The two six minute sessions were a tie and a Northwestern 7 point win. I can't remember the other format, but I remember we also won that (score not disclosed) so at worst it was a tie.

This was on NW's forum

"As for the game, we were down 6 at the end of the first half we played. Then played two 6 minutes end-of-game scenarios. In the first we tied, and we won the second by 7. Played a few more scenarios after that."

Not a junior on the roster.    Ridiculous number of freshmen.   Maybe MU can win with 7.    Still concerned.

They like to shoot the 3.

Thanks.  Thought I remembered seeing that we won the first half and then split the second half into 2 sessions, one with starters that we won and one with backups that we lost but all 3 were close scores.  I must've misread and/or misremembered what I read.

Either way, we were competitive with a top 20 type team, and from all accounts Wojo and the staff seemed to be pretty excited about the defense they saw in that game.  So we played an exhibition with UWM that we started slow but still won by 15 while rotating guys in and out with the defense looking solid, competed with Northwestern where the defense looked good, and then looked awful against an awful opponent in an exhibition where two key players were out and the defense looked horrendous.  My guess is in the exhibition Wojo was doing much more experimenting with lineups, situational type stuff and not really using it as much prep for the season but rather seeing what might work and what might not, even moreso than the UWM and Northwestern competitions.  I'm not worried 1 bit about MSM, with or without Elliot and Howard.  I expect MU to be up double digits for almost the entire second half.

I was looking too.  Mt. St. really has a great little guard who shoots lights out and is quick, really quick.  It will be interesting to see Rowsey guarding this player, the game will be closer than you think.

Looking for
•threes to go in.
•Guarding the three line better.
•No injuries or reaggravations before Purdue.
•Something different and positive at the 1.
•<10 turnovers (too much to ask?).
• A win.... (and comfortable with 5 min left rather than 5 seconds).
• some good frosh minutes so we can see what's what.

Why would you call the Lindenwood exhibition meaningless but put any stock in a closed door scrimmage? I've got to think the Lindenwoog game was more of a dress rehearsal than the Northwestern scrimmage. I can't be alone in that thinking, can I?

I won't speak on his behalf but likely that they're facing an NCAA tournament team so collectively they come out focused and engaged.
The Lindenwood score doesn't worry me whatsover, and Marquette rolls tonight.
