Markus has the potential to be first team all Big East and in the discussion for Big East Player of the Year .

But that means he might leave early for the draft!
Markus is an elite offensive player. Maybe the best we've seen at Marquette in the modern era. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure he is also the worst defender we've seen at Marquette in the modern era. I think his defense and size keep him here all four years.

I will vote for Wade as the best offensive player at MU this century and I do not think it is even close.

With you.
Ditto DW, Markus is a hell of a talent though, offensively.
I posted this in the preseason predictions thread a few days back and nobody cared

But what if wojo keeps demotivating him?

Well yeah. I shouldn't have said modern, I should have said Big East era.

If Markus improves every year and stays all four, it certainly could be. Wade will always have the edge in explosiveness and (likely) defense because of his size and athleticism, but Markus is also incredibly gifted offensively.
We won't really see comparison years until Markus' last two as he arrived a year earlier than Wade and didn't sit out. He could totally regress and that would be the argument, but if he improves every year, he might well have a case.

no argument except we've got to give markus the benefit of seeing him play until he's at least 19, maybe 20, 'ey?

I agree with this analysis.
Marcus is and will become a great college player. The next 3 years he has to improve his passing skills and dribbling skills to get to the next level. There are very few
NBA 2 guards that are under 6 feet. Very few point guards for that matter are under 6 feet. Best shooter in MU history was Steve Novak, he might be better than him.
If they get Grimes, big if, he will get more open shots, this year will be interesting as the options this year will be less as the team will have to be on his back as other
teams will be watching him closer. More options the following year with Morrow and Joey.

No ifs ands, or buts about it, to this point Markus is a better shooter than Steve.

Agreed. But Steve had one advantage. He was many inches taller. And that reality got him paid in the NBA for a very long time.
