That's pretty awesome. Although...it took 13 years to get this together? How has this not taken place on August 8 of EVERY year since 2004?!  ;)

So I had to look one of these up.  Kabaddi.  Here is the wiki summary:

"Two teams compete, each occupying its own half of the court. They take turns sending a "raider" into the opposing team's half and earn points if the raider manages to touch opposing team members and return to the home half, all while taking only a single breath. If however the raider is tackled and prevented from returning, the opposing team gets the point."

Here is a video of the sport:

Gee...I wonder why this hasn't caught on?

It's actually pretty cool to watch, like fast paced team wrestling.  There was a US team for the first time last year maybe in the world championships, bunch of college football player types who had just learned how to play and they got housed.  I would love to give it a try on a front lawn with a 30 pack.

Kabaddi is great. Its pretty popular in England, India and the middle east. We played a game at school when the world championships were going on. Think one of my classmates wrote a couple articles on it as well.

WTF?!?  Roller Derby is on at 2am and trampoline dodgeball at 4am?  But bags gets lunchtime billing?

Seriously, what has this world come to that roller derby and trampoline dodgeball are relegated to a UWGB vs. Pacific time slot?

Going to DVR the trampoline dodgeball. The tough part will be  making sure I don't see the results before I watch.

The guide (at least on my DirecTV) is updated to list the Ocho broadcast.  Just set the DVR for the trampoline dodgeball at 4 am.

Watching Kabaddi World Cup and thinking, "this is why we can't be friends with Iran."
